S/o to the flu thread

A photographer I follow on insta posted something this morning. She posted that she shot a wedding where the Bride tested positive for the flu the MORNING aid her wedding But she “pushed thru”. What? I know there is not much you can do, but with the flu being so bad this year...

Thoughts?

Re: S/o to the flu thread

The morning of? I mean what do you do at that point? How do you reach out to 100+ guests, all the vendors, etc in that short a time?
Not to mention 10s of thousands of dollars lost. Then when you recover and want to reschedule you have to lay out the full cost of the whole wedding over again? Who can afford that?
I feel terrible for anyone that happens to. What a freaking nightmare

Maybe forgo the receiving line but really? No one is canceling their wedding because they have the flu unless they're in the hospital. I certainly wouldn't have. I'd have loaded up on drugs and not hugged or kissed anyone.

That poor bride. I hope she's better before her honeymoon.

Exactly. Omg you prepare for so long, want everything to be perfect, then you get so sick on the most important day of your life? You can't even enjoy yourself.
What shittyy luck. I feel awful for her

ugh that's so awful! I can't imagine how terrible that would be. I wouldn't cancel either, I would warn everyone to stay away from me, add those airborne chewable things to the bathroom baskets, and purell sanitizer pumps everywhere. that poor bride and any guest that got sick because of it Chat Icon

Re: S/o to the flu thread

No judgments here since that’s a BIG deal to cancel a wedding the morning of, where guests may have spent $$$ making travel arrangements, not to mention all the other non refundable costs and heavy planning.... BUT I do hope she didn’t hug and kiss her guests, or get too close.

Hopefully they don’t have an elaborate honeymoon plan for immediately after. Chat Icon

I agree, you can't fault them for going through with it. I think it would have been nice if they posted a warning on fb or something beforehand in case anyone wanted to avoid the wedding. I think most people would still go but for the sake of the elderly, pregnant women, anyone immuno-compromised, I hope they tried to spread the word.

Would you cancel your wedding if you had the flu? I don't think anyone would. That would be an insane amount of money in the garbage.

I would not cancel my wedding over the flu- it would result in the loss of thousands of dollars. The truth is most of the bride’s close friends and family were likely already exposed to it if she had a rehearsal, etc.

As a bride who didn't have the flu but a severe cold / cough, you have to push through. I had guests who traveled 1,000+ miles, spend money on airfare and hotels, etc. Besides, the chatter if a wedding was canceled the day of Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I loaded up on hot tea with lemon. On our honeymoon in the Carribbean, I ended up on antibiotics and slept hours on a beach chair.

Luckily I wasn't severely ill but I had a bad cold and laryngitis for my wedding. You could barely hear my vows. I wouldn't cancel for the flu morning of.

Poor girl! I wouldn’t cancel either. My dh was sick for our wedding. He had 102 fever the morning of and had chills and the worst cough but we couldn’t cancel.

I wouldn’t cancel but I would not kiss or hug anyone.
but I’m also the type that even if i have a sniffle, I warn whoever I’m gonna be around and will do a wave hello. I know I don’t like when sick people just spread their shit knowingly. So I refuse to be “that guy”

That’s terrible
I wouldn’t cancel but being a complete germaphobe if I was a guest I would stay far far away! I’m one of those people that have been staying away from every store and person as much as possible.
My DH got movie tickets yesterday and was like come on we are going to the movies...I made him cancel the fandango order immediately

I'm a huge stay home when you are sick person and get angry that people come to work sick, like it's a badge of honor. I realize that not everyone has that luxury, but at my job we have generous sick time and are not brain surgeons! But in this case, hell no would I cancel my wedding! The logistics of that would be a nightmare, plus the tens of thousands of dollars you would lose! In that case, yes, you have to power through...let guests know that you won't hug and kiss them.

Agree with EVERYONE else. Sucks to be sick but when it's your wedding, you HAVE to push through. That is NOT trivial to reschedule not to mention it would cost you thousands and piss off EVERY guest, many of whom wouldn't be able to attend at a later date. The bride did the right thing.
