Monster jam
Has anyone ever been? I have seen FB friends post pics of them there and the kids have on head phones. Do they give them to you there or do you bring them yourself? I'm assuming its loud. Do the kids need them? My son is 6 if that matters.

You can buy them there or you can bring your own. Yes, you definitely need them. It gets very loud. I even had to use my foam earplugs.

You definitely need the headphones. I used to work at the coliseum. It is very loud. They don't provide them, you should bring you own. Also, dress warm as they leave the doors open for ventilation.

we've been several times. we bring hearing protection for our boys (they do sell some there but more expensive) and also the little plugs for ourselves. sometimes we use them for us, and sometimes not. we insist the boys have them on whenever the trucks are going. it's a lot of fun!

My son is going tomorrow for the first time... he is so excited! He's got his hearing protection all ready. Thanks for the tip about dressing warmly. I would never have even thought of that!

Someone told me the exhaust fumes are unbearable. I was going to buy tickets, but that really deterred me. Is it really bad?

I don't think the fumes are unbearable (although it does smell). I have heard that if you are in the last few rows up top, the smell can be bad

we just went last Sunday in Newark NJ. we were lower down, only a few rows back from the "track"... but the fumes weren't bad at all- we really didn't smell anything. it was LOUD though- so we're glad we brought hearing protection for all of us. but the fumes weren't bad at all. i think my husband said they use a different kind of fuel when they do the indoor shows- alcohol based or something- that cuts down on fumes...

Re: Monster jam
Thanks! I was gonna ask if being higher up is worse. I would assume the fumes float to the top. My sister thought being father away would be better. I'm glad we skipped it this time. Now I know for next time to go with the closer seats and def bring ear protection.
