Croup questions
So Saturday night in the middle of the night my toddler started coughing and her breathing was stopping for seconds at a time, tachycardia, high respiratory rate. Took her to the hospital, dx with croup. No cold prior to, no fever, no acting off, nothing. Given meds, sent home. She was fine for 2 days. No congestion, no cough, running around, wanting to go to the playground, totally normal. Last night she spiked a fever and has had one since.
Does this sound like a typical case of croup? I have no clue, my other kids ever had it. I put a call in the doctor, waiting on a call back so thought I'd ask here in the meantime.

Re: Croup questions
For us, the fever came first... then the cough and congestion after. But the fever went up and down for a few days. I'd still alert your doctor, but it's a virus so there's not much they can do aside from treating the symptoms. Just keep an eye on LO's breathing- run the humidifier. I also kept DD in my bed with me propped up on a pillow. That way I could monitor her breathing and temp and she was inclined so the coughing wasn't as bad.

Croup questions
DS had croup on Christmas with a fever. Two days later he was back up to 104 and diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection.

This is basically what the nurse said. She probably picked up something else while her immune system was down - which i guess happens with steroids, I would have thought the opposite. Just gotta monitor her at home for now.
Thanks everyone!
