yea, i usually take that week as vacation.

No. Never have. But I don't think birthdays are generally a big deal once you are an adult.

Sometimes -- mine and DH's birthdays are a few days apart, and some years we go away for a long weekend to celebrate. So if my birthday happens to fall on the Fri or Mon around that weekend, I take off.
But other than that, no. What am I gonna do, sit home with my thumb up my ass all day?

In this years case, yes I did. I don't normally work on Saturday's but I was scheduled to this past Saturday. I told my boss I couldn't work that day. Nbd I just wanted to be home with my kids. And I had worked the past 8 days in a row and needed a break.

my birthday is in the last few days of may... memorial day weekend. if my birthday lands on a friday or a tuesday, i do take it off and enjoy a four-day weekend.
plus, the fiscal year ends on 5/31. there isn't a soul around at that time. if i'm going to take a lazy day, this is a perfect time because there isn't any work to do.

never use to, the last two years I have, I made it my day. It was one of 2-3 times a yr I have a manicure and pedicure

I only have when I had to go to divorce court on my 35th bday
I do take off for my boyfriend's bday. Which is two weeks after mine and we take a small trip

Yes every year since I started working as a teenager(i worked at waldbaums and if I remember correctly our birthday was a paid personal day). I use to go to AC on my birthday every year but as my DC get older I know have activities where I can't go to AC on my birthday but I still take off.
Even if I am siting home by myself its better then sitting in my office working
I don't take more than one vacation a year that requires me to be off for a week or more and some years I don't even take that long of a vacation so I always have lots of time to use.
My job just recently switched to no limit on vacation so even more reason to take off for my birthday I won't be wasting any vacation day anyway!!

Not usually. Last year I took week around it off since dh wanted off too, so we went o vacation as we are only a day apart. This year I might take a long weekend.

I have never taken the day to just take the day and hang out. My DH's birthday is 2 days before mine so we have taken vacations as birthday gifts to ourselves but if I was home, I'd be at work. Now that I have kids my birthday is really nothing, just a reminder I am getting old!!

no i don't... The only year I did was because i was having the worst morning sickness that led to me being hospitalized and diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum (aka severe morning sickess). and to make matters worse, my principal didn't know i was pregnant and heard it was my birthday, so she actually made a comment about me lying about being sick to have the day off! So glad i don't work there anymore
