Delaying AF
My DH and I are going to Aruba without the kids and of course I'm supposed to get AF the day we leave. I spoke to my OB and he prescribed Norethisterone. Has anyone taken meds to delay their period for a vacation? Any side effects?

Delaying AF
I did ... for my wedding ... but my OB gave me BC pills. I took it for 2 weeks and then stopped which brought on AF 1 week early

I have never heard of this, so I had to look it up! The increased risk of a blood clot would make me nervous, especially since when you fly, you are sitting for a long period of time.

I would just keep taking the pill if you are on it, don't take that break week. You only need 4 periods a year

I used to take the pill continuously in order to not get my period. It's fine. I would take it for a couple cycles before though, to decrease the chances of breakthrough spotting.

Re: Delaying AF
I took it for my honeymoon. No problems at all. Got my period the minute I stopped ;)

I'm not on the pill because I can't take anything with estrogen. So that's why I need to go this route! I hope it works without side effects

Re: Delaying AF
Just a warning that it doesn't work for everyone. You may need a few months to adjust or you may get breakthrough bleeding. I'd try it before you go away to see how your body reacts.

Re: Delaying AF
I would actually prefer to get my period on vacation because the second I get it, I feel and look SO much better. If I were to delay it, I would be retaining 10 lbs of water in my stomach and look like shitt in my bikini. I'd also be cranky, emotional, have pimples like a teenager and my boobs would hurt so bad I'd want to wear a bra to shower! I'd rather deal with tampons than all that on vacation!
I'd just pack tampons and let it be.

Although I do Agree, but I am sure they want to

Yes but if you get your AF at home the following week, you can't either so what difference does it make if you get it on vacation or the week later at home? Either way it's a week without sex. When you're married it's not like you have to go on vacation to have sex kwim?
Especially since she said they are going away with their kids- that makes it even harder to do anything when they are right in the next bed. Probably easier to be period free at home.

Re: Delaying AF
We are going without the kids!!! I am nervous to take it and if I weren't due to get it the day we leave I would just let it be. But I will have it the whole time we are away and I feel gross when I have it. It's heavy and I get bad cramps! I don't know what's worse dealing with the side effects or just having it the whole week.

Delaying AF
Everyone is different but I delayed by period for my honeymoon by continuing to take a new pack of my bc pills and it was terrible. I was so bloated I wish I never did that. It was nice not having my period but I had to keep my stomach covered a lot
