Captiva Island - South Seas Resort?

Has anyone stayed at this resort?

Close to booking this place for spring break. Pictures look really nice. Trying to figure out if it actually is awesome or just good photography. Reviews are mixed. The villas are pricey and don't want something dated from a pretty photograph.

I was looking at this for our spring break! Also check out Sundial. South Seas sounds and looks amazing. I've heard good things from people who have stayed there. Seems really family friendly.

We decided not go in March since it's high season and as such the rooms were pricey - it's not worth it for us since we already live in coastal FL.

I liked captiva island a lot and my husband used to work at the resort but not sure if the $ justifies it.. it's relaxing and I like the vibe but its in no way the Caribbean.

TripAdvisor is where I read the mixed reviews. I have low expectations of the room. The resort has a lot of activities and weather should be perfect. Our villa was not cheap so hopefully it is at least as nice as a Westin type accommodation.

Stayed last August for a girls trip. The resort is wonderful and like a little village in itself. You can rent golf carts to drive around or hop on the trolley. I loved it so much that I just booked us for a June, I know my DH and kids will love it. You can see dolphins from the swimming pool area as well as manatees near the marina. The water at the beach is beautiful and warm and so many seashells!

The reason there are so many mixed reviews is because they have condos and a hotel. A lot of the condos are independently owned and some may be tired looking. So if you like new and modern furnishings I would book the hotel and not the villas. Unless you know the villa is updated. The hotel rooms are very small though as compared with villas that have kitchens etc...

Lots of activities for the kids, but you have to pay extra for most. For multiple kids it gets pricey.

I can't wait to go.

ETA the tennis villas are a trolley ride away from the main pool. If you want to stay near to the beach, book the beach villas.
