I do not have any pets, I am allergic to pets, if someone asked if they could bring their dog to my house the answer would be no but they are welcome to leave them in the yard, I am sure pet lovers will flame me but its how I feel.

I have pets and I LOVE pets but no flames here.
I would never think to impose my pet on someone else.
Pet lover or not.

I have a dog, and never would I bring my dog to someone's house. I actually think that would be weird to bring him.

Re: dogs/guests

It's weird they asked you.

We once did have a guest bring their dog to our house, but they were coming up for an extended period of time and we love their dog so it was a nonissue. If someone who lived local asked me to bring their dog, I'd probably say no - especially if I was having other people over. Not everyone is a "dog" person.

Can you say DH is allergic?

no, its dhs fam. he's going to be the bad cop for sure Chat Icon

there are 5-6 dogs on his side of the fam. i lost count. im not about that life

Oh geez. I am a crazy dog person and I'm annoyed for you. Some people aren't animal lovers- no need to impose on them! Chat Icon

i LOVE animals.just not in my home. im also extremely neurotic which doesnt help. I treat my apt like a museum

And that is totally fine! It's your house! Maybe you can just say no and make a joke out of it,. Tell them you don't even allow DH on the furniture. Chat Icon

We are lunatics about our dog - however - unless someone said the event was specifically a doggie playdate we would NEVER bring her.

We actually were told we could bring her on NYE (so we could stay at our friends' house who was having hte party we were attended) and left her home and didn't stay over, I don't want to be responsible for my kids half the time, nevermind a wild puppyChat Icon

I have 2 dogs. I LOOOOOVE dogs. I volunteer with a dog rescue and we often also have a foster. I would never ever ask if we could bring our dogs with us to someone's home. My In-laws live out of state and they ask us to bring the dogs when we visit so that is the only place we take them when we visit. They don't have dogs anymore so they enjoy spending time with them. My dogs are fine at home while we are at a holiday dinner.

You should never feel bad. You are entitled to keep your house the way you want it.

We have a dog and only bring him to homes that ask us to bring him (our parents, one of our friends because her kids love him and they don't want to get their own so they "borrow" him) things like that. We would NEVER ask to bring him. We have a dog sitter for when we are going to be out all day or go away.

We have been asked by people if they can bring their dog to our house and I have flat out said No. And we have a dog.

Additionally, I always tell people before they come over that I have a dog so they aren't surprised by this big hairy dog when they walk in. And I keep lint brushes in EVERY room!

We only bring our dogs to people's houses that we know we can take them to.... Usually it is to people who have/had dogs.

Some times people tell us we can bring the dogs without asking because they know we try and take them every where we can.

We have a shih tzu and a pomeranian. They are both house trained and love people... Sometimes they come to work with me.

We just got a puppy and I have brought her to my moms and my sisters house but I asked and they were totally down with it. I don't think I would ask any one else though. Really, the only reason I brought her there was because she can't go more than 3 hours without peeing. As she gets older she will stay home.

I have a dog and would never bring her to, or ask if she can come along to a home I was invited to as a guest.

My parents or sister - sure, but other than that....no way, I would never.

Also, as I said, I have a dog and if anyone asked to bring their dog to my house, the answer would be - no, you may not.

Dh hates when other people bring their dogs to our house. There is one exception our best friends pit is my dog's best friend. They love each other and we usually just put them in the backyard to run around together. We also dogsit for each other so my cats are used to him and vice versa.

My sister decided to bring her massive dogs to my house a couple of years ago and dh lost his shit.

I don't understand why people bring their dogs places especially if you know the people aren't dog people.

I have a dog... a VERY needy dog who thinks she's a baby. When we go to my parents she always comes with us. They love having her and we are usually there for an evening. When we go anywhere else, she stays home. She has been to my in laws once. I would ever think to ever bring her places or to others houses. I also wouldn't let anyone bring their pet to my house my dog HATES other animals. I'm also having my twins any day and wouldn't want any other animals near them. I think it's ballsy to show up with your pet to someone's house. I would never even ask anyone that

I would never ever think it would be ok to bring my dog to someone's house unless it was someone who specifically said they would want the dog to come over and I would keep the dog outside. And I would definitely not want someone else's dog in my home.

Re: dogs/guests

I do not allow any other pets INSIDE my home. Our dog is older now, losing his hearing and is blind in one eye. My sister has a new dog and she knows the dog is not allowed to come over. No offense given, none taken.

The only place we ever bring our dog is to our in-laws house as they live upstate and understand that we can't board our poor old dog. They don't mind though, thank goodness.

I have two dogs and have had dogs for almost 15 years. I have never asked to bring my dog anywhere. It is rude of someone to ask that IMO. Even if you had dogs of your own, how do you know they would get along.

I did have someone bring a dog to a party at my house one time. I thought it was incredibly ballsy and rude.

No, of course not! Who would ever just bring their pet to someones house? No, I would never ask. It's one thing if somebody invites your pet, But you would certainty never ask and most definitely just show up somewhere with a pet!

i live in a 650 sq foot 1 bedroom apt. and i was asked if one of our guests could bring their dog over for xmas dinner. dog is like 40 lbs and doesnt sit still. dogs arent allowed where I live but Im afraid when we buy a home where we will have a ton of space I cant use the excuse "dogs arent allowed". That dog SHEDS!!!! i always wear black and im covered in white dog hair within minutes when im over the owners home.

I just dont want to sound like a b!tch when I say no in the future. The thought of having dogs on my furniture is giving me so much anxiety. Even if its in the summer during bbqs, the dogs will sh!t all over the lawn. they dont walk them. they just open the back door and the go on the lawn. I refuse to step on sh!t bombs in my own yard.

You don't need an excuse, you just say no. For some reason, i don't think you are the shy, scared type!!! Have your DH tell them no since it's his family. the only reason you need is that you do not want dogs in your house. This is coming from a pet person!
