Gifts for god parents?
DD's baptism is this Sunday. I'm curious to know if you've ever been a god parent before if you received a gift on the baptism day. Or if your child was baptized did you give the god parents anything?

They gave me a Gucci bag. That is not the norm. You can give them something sentimental. Greek baptisms require the God parent to spend A LOT of money so the parents usually give a really nice gift. Not sure what is required in other faiths.

I'm a 2x godparent and my dd has godparents. We have never given gifts.

I have 2 godsons, I received a gift at one christening but not the other. For DS's godparents, I got them both a personalized wine glass and a small personalized gift from Etsy (tie bar for godfather, bracelet for godmother.) it's definitely not necessary but I think a small token of appreciation is nice.

I received a coin from my 1st, a tiffany bracelet from my 2nd and nothing from the third.
My husband received nothing from his 1st Godchild and an engraved frame with a picture of them a few weeks after the Baptism from the 2nd.

I gave gifts.
Godmother got a purse and an Alex and Ani godmother bracelet.
Godfather got an engraved bottle and a bottle of his favorite liquor.

We gave personalized Godmother/Godfather mugs with the logo from the Godfather movie. My DH got a picture frame that said Godfather with a picture of him and the baby.

I have been a godparent several times and never received anything nor did I expect anything. I never bought my kids' godparents anything either.

Never rec'd a gift as a godparent on the Christening day and I have never given a gift. I believe it is an honor to be a Godparent and that is the gift on that day.

i just became a godmother with my husband and we got a sign for our apartment and a frame. it was nice but not expected.
