Do you vote for minor parties for your candidate?

For a lot of candidates (at every level), they are listed under multiple parties. If the person you want to vote for is listed under multiple parties, do you vote for a major party (Dem or Rep), or do you vote for the same person under Working Families, Reform, etc?

I try and vote for the minor parties when possible.

On a related note, why are there some candidates for local positions listed under Dem, Rep, and Ind? Chat Icon

I voted Democrat.

I couldn't figure that out either, why the same candidate was under every party.

That confuses me- what's the difference.
If they win they win right?
Does it matter which party you voted for them under?
And why are they running under all different parties.

I'm so confused by that

Yes that was very confusing to me . I only voted for one party- I was confused on why the same person was listed under multiple parties.

I just went major party this time. I have in the past but this election I want all the I's dotted and T's crossed.
As for the same candidate in multiple parties, my guess is they are running unopposed.

People are listed under multiple parties because that is who is that party's nominee. Like I believe Trump is also the Conservative Party's nominee. They didn't put in a different person.

Hillary was listed under another party as well too, I can't remember which though.

I almost always vote under the minor parties. If they get more of the vote they can get federal funding, right?

For President, I vote major party. If there is a candidate I love in another category, then I try to vote for them on different party lines sometimes. i.e. There was one here on LI I voted for tonight running on the Republican, Conservative, Working Families and Independence party. I like the guy, but gave him the vote on the Independence line.
