I know a lot of people vote on someone just because of their political party. But I choose based on the actual candidate.

What about you?

I'm a registered Democrat and I absolutely do NOT vote based on the party. I do my homework regarding the issues.

I voted for Pataki.

I'm also a registered Democrat but I definitely do my homework. I've got to say there haven't been many instances where I have voted Republican, but it might happen one day. In general my beliefs are more in line with the Democratic party ideals, so it would be rare to find such a liberal Republican that I would agree with.

This year I actually did not vote at all for the comptroller because of the Hevessi scandal...I did not want to condone his actions by voting for him, but I also did not like the other candidate, so I didn't vote at all for that position.

And I think that's OK too--you can go and vote for just the races/candidates you are familiar with.

I have voted for democrats, republicans, green party. It's based on the candidate. Also, a local race is going to be a lot different from a national race. I would probably never vote for a republican in the US Senate, but I love my local State senator, and he's a republican and I vote for him every time. I also voted for Bloomberg. Local politics and national politics are very different when it comes to party
