Norwegian out of NY
Another question to help me plan a vacation.
Has anyone taken a cruise out of NY in February?
The biggest issue obviously is the cold weather but the price and the convenience is hard to beat. A 7 day cruise for just under $400 a day seems amazing. When I was looking at cruises out of NY the airfares during Winter break are ridiculous.
So if you have taken a cruise in the winter out of NY what was your experience?
Thank you

I've taken three cruises out of New York, but never in February. I will say, for THAT price, there is no question I'd jump on that deal.
Obviously the weather can be unpredictable, but you have just as much chance of having good weather as having bad.

Thanks JP! There is so much to do on the ship and the price is unbeatable I can't pass it up. Cold in February, inside the ship who cares, in 2 days the ship is in warmer temperatures.

we did the NCL Breakaway in December one year out of NYC. it wasn't bad!! the first 2 days were chilly-- but they heat the pools on the ship, and theres a lot to do. then, for a lot of the trip you're in warmer temps so its not bad! and i think they go slow during the day to stay in the warmer temps a day or so longer.. then speed up at night to get home back to the cold LOL at least it seemed that way! its a great ship, great service--- and a great deal for a few warm days in the middle of winter!!! i say go for it!

I've sailed out of NY several times, though never during the winter. My one question would be .. is the water choppier during the winter months? Might be something worth looking into, if motion is something that may bother you.

In the winter the water is usually a lot rougher than in warmer months. Its a huge ship with stablizers so I am hoping that will not be an issue.
I will take plenty of Dramamine with me and hope for the best.

We did February of 2014 when it was literally blocks of ice in the ocean
It didn't warm up until we got to Florida. However I wouldn't say it was BAD. We had fun, we did a lot of stuff and my DS had a great time.

You can get that price in October/November. My parents just took one for $360 pp on the Breakaway. They had rain and said they couldnt use the pool but it was fine once they got to their destination (Bermuda) for 3 days.

That is super cheap! The OP is paying $400 per day, not PP. So $2,800.

Norwegian out of NY
We cruised Royal last feb break which was the week after they went through that horrendous storm. It was cold but they have an indoor pool so we could swim. It was freezing though every time you walked past a door and it did not get warm until the end of the second day. It was rocky so try to get a room in the middle of the ship.
We are also on the Breakaway for Feb break this year but we are staying in the Haven so we'll have the pool the entire time.
