So I just failed at trying to get DD to put herself to sleep at bedtime
She took 2 naps today by putting herself to sleep so I nursed her about 20-30 min before bedtime (of course she fell asleep while I was nursing her). DH did a bedtime routine and put her in the pack n play and at first she fussed and then it turned into full on hysterical crying. I could only listen to that for so long so I gave in and I'm nursing her to sleep. She slept so good for like 7 months and I was soooo happy. Looks like I either have to pay for an expert to help me or deal with the fact that I'm not going to sleep again for a while.

She is still really Young
Could be teething. Separation anxiety. Growth spurt.
Just realizing she can cry to get mommy
Just keep trying. And hang in there

She's so little still. She needs you and it is perfectly normal for her to want to nurse to sleep especially if she is teething. I know it sucks and it is exhausting. What helped me what constantly reminding myself that it will pass and you will sleep again :) Hang in there.

I'd be thankful that she slept so well for 7 months!
I think the key is consistency. Two good naps and one bad bedtime isn't a failure. And you can't expect every night to be perfect. But you do have to be consistent. Stop nursing her to sleep and don't go back on that. You're teaching her that if she cries, she gets mommy (and her boobs!).
I know you said you don't want to do CIO, but I did it with my daughter at 6 months old and it was the best thing I ever did. She had never slept through the night and I was a walking zombie, waking up 15-20 times a night. DD is 17 months old now and a great sleeper. Two rough nights turned it all around.
