What do you do to help baby sleep when they're sick?
For the last 2 days I have been nursing my 7 month old to sleep for naps and holding her while she naps. It seems like the only way to get her to sleep but I'm so afraid I'm going to start a bad habit and make her into a bad sleeper. Please tell me I can't form a bad habit in a couple days ? and what do you do to get your baby to sleep when they're sick?

My baby was sick last month and slept on us for a week. He wouldn't go away after that he is now sick again and remains sleeping on us or in his Lillebaby carrier. He has been in our bed for well over a month and now we are not sure what to do.

What kind of sick? A fever I would probably give motrin and if they feel that bad I'd do whatever made them comfortable just like you are. For a cold, saline spray and nose frida to help clear them up and incline the mattress, run a cold mist humidifier. If that didn't help, again I'd do exactly what you're doing and worry about getting them back into good habits when they feel better.

Whenever my dd was sick had a tooth coming in as a baby, I would always hold her as much as she needed. Then once she was all better I would usually have to do CIO for a night or 2 to get her back to sleeping on her own. Now,at 4 years old, she's still not a great independent sleeper though, so I'm not sure my method was the best choice.

Eh... it's not going to kill you... I did that kind of stuff & retrained... but with the third I've been lax. Honestly, it's not the end of the world if they need you to sleep for a bit

We are a co-sleeping family from the start by default since DS had terrible colic. So my kids have always been in the bed with us and it made it much easier when they were sick for all of us to get some rest. Again, we don't mind having them in our bed so that may be why I say let DD sleep with you. She needs that comfort from you right now.

I think what you're doing is ok. If she's going through a tough time & it saves your sanity, why not. It's not forever. My ds used to wake up every few hours through the night & I'd always bf him back to sleep & hold him or whatever... Around a year old I stopped & he adjusted. There was some crying involved but now he's a good sleeper. I don't think you need to worry about making a bad habit just yet.

Jillian is sick right now, and she falls asleep on me usually. It helps her fall asleep when shes upright. Once shes asleep i can usually put her down on my bed or the RNP and shes ok.
Shes having a tough time at night now staying asleep.
