I've done it plenty of times and I'm still alive.

Actually if any of the germophobes on here knew someone of the things I have done in my life and still do now they would die.
Still alive and kickin!

I wash corkscrews and can openers after using them, so I say it should be washed.

Bleck! That would annoy me. Are you going to die? No. Are you going to get sick? probably not. That's beside the point though, utensils you put in your food and mouth should not be used to open non food items and then not AT LEAST rinsed off Chat Icon

Yeah. I just wouldn't do that. My letter opener and non food scissors are kept in my "junk drawer"

And my DS just used the kitchen scissors last night for a craft project of some sort and put them back in the knife block.

We are the furthest thing from germaphobes and I have to say other than the occasional cold we do not get sick. We are not dirty but things like this just don't phase me.

Yuck! The boxes I get delivered are very dirty. I wonder what they go through in shipping to get them so dirty and greasy, especially the bags clothes get shipped in.

I feel like there was drama once when the question "do you ALWAYS wash your hands after the bathroom" was posted Chat Icon

Germs aside, I just wouldn't do that because it isn't the right tool for the job. I have box cutters for that. They do the job better & I wouldn't want to damage my kitchen knives.

I have kitchen scissors that are mostly used for opening food packages & sometimes for cutting actual food, but I always wash them.

Lmao.yes, agreed! Chat Icon Even DH will get grossed out at some of the things I do.

This in particular I don't do and not because it's gross and where has the mail been and all that but because I don't want to damage my kitchen knives. So I keep a separate package opening knife that never gets washed. I get so many amazon packages every day I would've had to resharpen my knives so often that they would've been ground down to nubs by now.
