Both of SC US senators voted against sensible gun control measures in June. I hope they all remember this come November. People are so flucking afraid someone is coming to take their penis extenders, I mean guns, that they elect these idiots that only care about people when they are fetuses over and over again. Our kids are being killed and traumatized on a regular basis. I have the right to not be sick to my stomach everyday when I put my kid on the school bus.

You hit the nail on the head.
They are all SOOOOO against abortion but once the kids are out of the womb, they are fair game to be sitting ducks to anyone nutjob with a gun.
Sickening.

But you're forgetting guns don't kill people, people kill people. Chat Icon

Was this teenager even of age to buy a gun? How would gun control have helped in this situation? I'm not understanding.

For the record I AM for gun control, but in a lot of these cases, with school shootings it seems, these are kids getting them from parents who are legal to have them.

You have to be 21 to buy a gun, and 18 to legally own a gun in SC.

So in cases where these are the parents guns how do we control that? Acts of terrorism or shopping malls, movie theaters seem to be different then schools it seems. I wonder why this is? What is happening to make this happen? Is this a gun control issue or a mental health issue or a bullying issue? Is it all of them? I don't know but I am noticing this is different then the other shootings and that scares me. I pray with my kids every morning before school. It sickens me that at 6 and 4 they have to have "stranger danger" drills.

The issue would be why are parents not keeping their guns secured? There's no reason a 14 year old should be able to get his hands on his parent's gun. I read an article that said he had been expelled last year for attacking another student with a hatchet. Yet he still got his hands on a weapon.
I also saw an 18mo was just killed bc a loaded gun was left within reach. I know there is a bill up right now I think in Suffolk to make new requirements for keeping weapons secured. I just wish there was more support and a way to enforce it. We are really failing way too many kids.

Exactly. And they can make all the laws they want about how you have to secure your weapon, but if the parent is irresponsible, they won't follow it. And it really can't be enforced until AFTER something happens, kwim?
It's not like they are going to come around and do spot checks of people's homes to make sure they are securing their guns.
I just can't imagine, as a parent and someone who does have a gun in the house, not securing that gun. Like leaving it ANYWHERE where my DD could find it. Or anyone could find it for that matter.
It boggles my mind.
