Staten Island zoo

Going to meet my sister in law there tomorrow since I'm in NJ and she's LI. Figured it's a good half way point for the both.
I believe it's free at 2pm. Anyone have any suggestions what to do or can recommend any places for dinner after?

Also, can you bring snacks or food there?

It's a small zoo. No one checks anything when you enter. There's just the person at the ticket counter when you arrive, so you can certainly bring some snacks along with you. Admission is free on Wednesdays after 2:00. The zoo closes at 4:45. As far as restaurants, what kind of food are you interested in?

It's a good place to walk for an hour or 2. It's a small zoo. We obviously prefer to avoid free days because they being big crowds!

We went recently & ate there. Hot dogs... Which we keep for special junk food outings, but at $2.50 each and tasty... I thought it was a good deal. Many people brought food.
