Re: 8 month old gags and pukes
DS2 is 10.5 months.
Not sure if this will help, but I am frustrated with the same thing.
I will say, it took him forever to stop gagging on puffs and yogurt melts and he finally as of about 9 months started LOVING them. He will eat cheerios too. We just kept offering.
On the other hand we are still not making that much progress with other table food. He has been starting to eat french toast and waffles. sometimes he will eat some banana (previously he puked his whole breakfast up gagging on it, so i guess that is progress).
he actually reaches for what we eat, pizza, bread, etc. then if you offer he turns away. its driving me crazy.
I am very interested to hear how other people dealt with this too.

Give it some more time. I went through the same thing with dd2. It will pass. Just start off slow.

This was my DD too! Pretty much up until 10 months. Daycare actually helped me a bit, they started giving her pancakes in little teeny pieces and then texted me to say she ate a whole pancake, I was amazed... so then I started to do the same, teeny pieces of foods that she could gum on but not big enough to choke on. I also mixed pastina into purees to get her used to texture (but, she hated Stage 3 foods for some reason).

Yeah she hated the Stage 3 foods but was totally fine w/ me mixing pastina into Stage 2 foods, it was so strange.

Re: 8 month old gags and pukes
Ds1 loved eating from the very beginning (6 months). However with Ds2 it took longer, I started offering solids also from 6 months, he'd inspect the food and taste it but he def wasn't as interested. Like 4, or 6 weeks ago his interest def grew and he loves eating now (he'll be 10 months tomorrow) With ur lo, I'd continue offering different type of solids, and no more purées, she'll eventually start liking food.

It hard for them many times with texture so it will probably come with time. I never had puking. I would give Cheerios etc with no problem but stage 3s he hated. It was the mix of textures since its purée with chunks.
We ended up just cutting all purées and moving to table food as the mix of consistency just confused him
But it really is all about time. Keep at it. They are learning each time.
