Re: Parking Lot Etiquette with Babies
I dont like parking spots I have to squeeze in to. For fear of wrecking my car or someone else dinging it. Im going to be honest after I park my car I have tunnel vision , I head straight to where Im going and dont look back. I wouldnt have pulled out of the spot.

Parking Lot Etiquette with Babies
I was that lady once. Had to put my infant in through the trunk. I was pissed too. It was really no one's fault. Everyone was in the line but the spots were too small. If someone was in their car next to mine at the time I would've expected them to offer to back out for a second so I could get my baby in safely. It's just the RIGHT thing to do. I feel extra compassionate lately though with all the craziness in the world. Sometimes we forget that we're all on the same team and for the most part just trying to do our best.

You saw her with a baby and you knew she couldn't get the child in? I'm sorry but I think you did the wrong thing. I understand that she gave you a nasty look but you should have done the right thing and moved.
I agree with this. I'm sorry but I think people just lack common decency at this point which is probably why she gave you the dirty look in the first place. I just don't understand why people can't be nice to one another??? And it's not about other people accommodating her decision to have a child , it's about the fact that now she has no way to get that carseat in the car! It's a baby for god's sake - in an infant carrier. I don't know if you have kids but I have been in a spot where people parked in a way that I couldn't get the infant carrier back in the car and it sucks!
That isn't the way it went down. This was over the weekend at a very busy mall. Only spot in sight. I struggled to get into the spot for a while and did not see her at all while I was actually parking. When I was getting out, she gave me the evil eye. I didn't know she had a baby at that point.
The whole thing happened pretty quickly. I saw her cursing and it did not make me want to squeeze back in my car and pull my car out after struggling to get in the space in the first place.
If there were more spots, I would obviously have taken another spot. I circled for a while just to find that spot.
What you could have done was back your car out, let her get her infant in the car, waited the minute to allow her to back out and then parked your vehicle straddling the line so you would have made yourself one huge parking spot.

You said you saw her, then squeezed out of your car and walked away. While I don't think you were wrong, I think it would have been courteous of you to help her out. I have been in that situation and it SUCKS. You could have simply backed out enough to give her room, let her get the kid in (probably a less than one minute snap in) and pulled back in again. Then when she pulled out, you would have had more room to get out of your car.

If you had pulled out someone else probably would have swooped in and grabbed the spot. God I hate the mall. Posts like these make me happy I live in the city.
