Parking lot etiquette
So, the supermarket parking lot by me is a nightmare during certain times and if I wasn't already in the car, on my way home, I would NEVER try to park there.
So as we're all circling around the lot like sharks, searching for our prey (parking) when I spot this chick leaving the supermarket and I start to stalk.
I sit for a few minutes with my directional on, claiming my spot... when this OTHER chick, who just illegally parked and started heading into the store, sees the woman walking to her car and asks if she's leaving.... chick #1 says yes and chick #2 starts heading back towards her car... she's about to get into the driver's seat
when she sees me...
She looks at me, then at chick #1 (who is SLOWLY putting her groceries into her car) looks at me again and then does this overly dramatic sigh/w tf thing and then closes her door, locks it, and starts walking (very ANGRILY) into the store.
I hear her say something to me so I roll my window down and ask 'excuse me?'
she says (very obnoxiously) 'ENJOY YOUR PARKING SPOT!!!'
why thank you! how nice of you... I will.
Can someone please tell me WHHHHHHHHHHHHHY this witch is speaking to me as if I did something to her?
SHE did not see ME... not the other way around...
I got over it... eventually parked and walked into the store. As I passed her in one of the aisles, I whispered to her..
'still enjoying my parking spot btw'
hey- I'm not perfect...

I love you.
Oh and FTR, you did NOTHING wrong, she was WAY out of line and as far as I'm concerned, deserved the snarky comment in the store.

this is why i love living where I do.....people here will fight to GIVE you the parking spot. I can't deal with the craziness of the more populated areas.

Just curious...what's so "crappy" about the supermarkets in Queens as opposed to the ones in the island...
Curious minds want to know...

You know how LI has those SUPER supermarkets... where they have cafes in them, a whole aisle of gift cards, a separate bakery section with every bread imaginable... aisles that you can twirl around in and not bump into someone? Some even have self checkouts?
we don't have anything like that.
At least not near me... the aisles are small, cramped and there really isn't much of a selection for ANYTHING.
Most of the time, you can't even bring the shopping cart 5 feet from the store.

oh come on! be fair! we DO get to put in a quarter for our wagons AND we do get to walk through crowds of homeless people returning their bottles and cans. It isn't ALL bad.

omg... at the closest waldbaums near me (which is what I consider *luxury* compared to the supermarkets within walking distance) there is ALWAYS this woman hanging around the bottle & can return and ANYTIME she sees someone recycling diet coke cans, she grabs you... points to the diet coke can and grunts and then points to herself.
I once engaged in a *conversation* with her and figured out that she was trying to say she can't speak anymore b/c of a reaction to the diet coke.
The first time I saw her, I felt sorry for her... but after months of witnessing her bothering anyone who is returning cans, I started to get annoyed. I hardly go there to return cans anymore (because of her) but when I do... she starts to approach me and I'm like:
'I get it... you don't like diet coke...'

Well I worked at Waldbaum's for six years. So as I pass those machines now, I hear "HELLO MATILDE!" and if I am with anyone they get VERY freaked out by it.
I once was told to close my eyes and put out my hands and I received a pet rat from one of the men that I saw regularly.

Re: Parking lot etiquette
I've had my experiences..boy, I'm not nice. If I claimed the spot, kiss my azz..you can stand on your head, call me names and put curses on me..I don't give a crap.
I had a very young guy in a yellow corvette call me a b!tch because I supposedly stole his spot. Right, it has your name on it..
I said so many things, but one of things that I remember now was, "Nice car your daddy bought you." The list goes on and on.

Re: Parking lot etiquette
Ugh. Insane!
I had these problems at Hofstra. It would sometimes take an HOUR to find parking.
I was in a small lot (near the law school for people who know) and I was waiting in a small area facing North, there was another truck facing South. I am pretty sure the truck was there first. There was a car pulling out, and I put my blinker on, but then I realied the truck was there first, so I stopped, but he waved me into the spot and then actually drove away. I pulled into the spot. The car that was behind the truck comes and pulls directly in back of where I aprk, waits for me (about 5 minutes while I was getting my stuff together for class), and when i get out of the car he says "You know, this was my spot" I said "I didn't know, the other guy waved me in" "well it was my spot" "Sorry. What do you want me to do" "nothing, don't worry" "Erm. Good Luck!"
he waited...just to accost me.
