Zantac babies
Those who have/had babies in Zantac... 1- how often did you have to adjust the dose? 2- when were you able to stop using it?
TIA! Thanks!

DD2 started it around 2 months 3x a day, she was on it until 8 months before we stated cutting back and was completely off by 10 months. We adjusted it every 2 months until 6 months (so twice)
Eta- just realized, she was on axid not Zantac but they're very similar

Re: Zantac babies
I give it twice a day also, it is based on weight. My daughter recently started it at about 5 1/2 months. Doctor said she should be able to come off of it in a few months as she progresses with solids. There is formula, 5-10mg/kg/day divided into two or three times a day dosing.

Re: Zantac babies
My DS1 was on it until about 13 months. We tried to stop around 6 months and it was disatrous! I believe he took it twice a day. He took it no problem even though it tastes horrible. The dosage was adjusted as he gained weight and he gained a lot! He was born early at just over 6lbs and was 25lbs by his 1st birthday.
DS2 refused Zantac. It was horrible trying to get him to take it. He took prilosec(?? blanking on what it was). I got it at a compounding pharmacy. He was off by 8 months.

Re: Zantac babies
We upped the dose about once a month, though we skipped some months if the kids weren't having issues at that level.
My DS was off around 7 months. My DD we just took off around 5 months.

DS was taking it 3x's per day and it was adjusted several times due to him gaining weight. I remember my Doctor telling me that Zantac is very sensitive and that any amount of weight gain can cause it to not work. So I feel like we were adjusting every month when we went in for our well visits.

Second child: started around 6 weeks. Increased dose two times dince then---once around 5 months and another time around 12 months. We are going to try to met him outgrow this dose but he still seems to need it.
