Those who have babies on Zantac
How long did it take to see results??? DD is miserable! I just gave her her first dose. I know it doesn't work instantly but I want to know when she will have some relief!!!

Re: Those who have babies on Zantac
I saw a turn around in DS in a week. It gradually got better after 2-3 days. But he was a whole new kid after a week. DS started taking it in November. He started to refuse it in Feb. It tastes horrible. He is now on Axid. Not as good as Zantac. (IMO), but it does work.

I can't wait until it kicks in. She's in so much pain and I feel terrible I can't help her. She's been up all day and night and I think we both need a break

Re: Those who have babies on Zantac
I'd say we started to see some changes after about 3-4 days. We did the zantac plus alimentum and then we added some mylanta. I think the alimentum made the biggest change. Good luck, hope your DD feels better soon!

How did you get DC to keep the medicine down? I put the dropper in her mouth (against the cheek, towards the back) and she made it seem like she swallowed it, but I looked back down and it was all down her face. I didn't want to give her more b/c i dont know how much actually made it down!
Ugh she's miserable and she hasnt stopped fussing in hours i'm dreading tonight

Re: Those who have babies on Zantac
We started the Zantac on a Wed night. Her 2-month well visit was the following Monday and she already so much better. I had trouble getting her to take it in the beginning, so I would redo the dose but a little less - the ped scolded me at the Monday visit and said not to do it and that a lot of what you get is saliva. She also advised giving her small squirts instead of one big one. I lay her head back a bit, small squirts, and sometimes blow in her face or cover her eyes - I read those both on here - she ends up getting most of it now and I don't re-administer the doses. Also, keeping her upright - bouncy seat, swing, crib wedge - all helped a bit too to control the fussing. Hope she feels better soon!!
ETA: also, try feeding her smaller amounts at more frequent intervals for a couple of days - that should also help a bit until the Zantac kicks in. My ped said 2 weeks for full effect.

Thank you I'll try doing this when giving her the meds this morning. Last night she wouldn't sit still at ALL so who knows how much she really got down. She was awake yesterday almost all day (normally she sleeps, especially cause we're in the car) and last night she was completely awake and fussing and crying from about 630pm-12am. I cried with her b/c I couldn't help her feel better. Then at about 1230am she must have reached her point of exhaustion and passed out until 630am!! she's NEVER slept that long at night before. I fed her and shes sleeping again now. I hope today is better

Me too! Good luck. Maybe she slept because the Zantac is starting to help - I noticed the biggest difference at night at first I think. I really hope she feels better soon!!
