Car advice
So we are upside down on our only car loan. It’s my hybrid car that I use to commute with DS in tow - 120 miles a day with…We didnt intend on being upside down - I just drive a lot.
I have 157K on the car and its beginning to require some high $ maintenance. We have a little under 2 yrs on the car left to pay.
Just looking to see what people would do in my case? Would you just ride it out and get to the end of the finance and pray to Jesus everyday? or would you get another car ? If we got another car - DH would drive my old car - he drives all of 50 miles a week minimum...
We looked at the accord hybrid and its great but it’s a lot a month… 450-500+ We have a friend that can potentially get us a good deal on the Kia hybrid 375ish a mnth perhaps
I think I am just having a hard time accepting that we will have two car payments and I feel like it’s a noose around my neck …
We are considering moving and yes I would be closer to work but DH would be further. That could change if he found a position closer but all that is speculative as we haven’t committed to a area or home to buy. Lots of other variables with it ( MIL living with us, selling her home or not… blah blah)
Im just feeling really anxious and stressed with this…
At some point DH and I will both need cars but I guess I didn’t think it would be so much $$$

Do you absolutely need a Hybrid. Non hybrids are a lot cheaper and gas prices aren't that crazy right now.

Do you need a hybrid that goes in hov or just a hybrid?
The lease on my Prius is up in January so I'm looking for a new hov lane capable hybrid and having no luck because I have a double stroller and hybrid trunks are small bc of the battery. I test drove the sonata hybrid, which can't go in hov, but, it was a really nice, smooth drive, fits my stroller, and wasn't too $$.

I would just trade it in for something new. I work in a dealership and even if your upside down in your loan you still get a tax credit for the trade-in value of your car. It can end up still working out well in your favor. Its very hard to NOT be upside down in cars lately. The prices are so high and they depreciate way too quickly. Unless you're the type to put a ton of cash down on a car, you're going to be upside down at some point anyway...

Re: Car advice
Honestly, I would not get a hybrid. I would look for something that gets excellent gas mileage for your next vehicle, but until then, I would drive this car until it can no longer run reliably. I would look for a low mileage between 3-12,000 certified preowned vehicle for your next car.
