I HATE being invited to things and quite frankly when I get an invite it usually just ends up in a big pile of stuff and I forget about it because when I get the invite its not a priority for me at that moment. I would never show up to an event if I didn't RSVP that I was going and I usually only attend things for immediate family. In my opinion (and I know I am probably the only one that thinks this way) you are the one throwing the event, just because I am invited doesn't make me responsible if I forget to RSVP no. Honestly its really an inconvenience to me to have to call someone just to tell them I am not planning on attending. The last time I did it, I got an attitude from the host.

This response comes across as extremely entitled. You aren't responsible for RSVPing? It's common courtesy and takes two seconds. Part of having relationships and friendships with people involves exerting some effort.

I usually do regrets only RSVP when I invite, it makes things easier IMO not RSVPing is very rude but also common

I'm a pushover.. I would send an e-mail reminder or texts to the slackers. Aren't you going to get stuck paying for the minimum amount of ppl? Don't get me wrong, on the inside I'd be pissed..but on the outside I'd grin & bare it for the sake of my friend, I'd want to give her a great shower.

I feel like people don't RSVP because they just don't want to commit. I mean why else wouldn't they? You either can/want to go or can't/don't want to go. This irks me as well.

And actually you ARE responsible for RSVPing.
That part is on you.
Everything else about the party planning is on the host.
The RSVP is the GUESTS responsibility.

This is the most bizarre response I have ever read. It is LITERALLY the responsibility of the guest to respond. RSVP - RESPONDEZ S'IL VOUS PLAIT. "Respond Please."

Sorry for the caps but seriously? Who has this mindset? how do you even have friends if you hate being invited to stuff?

Have you ever thrown a formal party before? It doesn't sound like it because if you did, you would understand how stressful it is to try to figure out head counts for food, favors, etc. and also determining the final cost. A backyard BBQ is one thing but a party like a shower is entirely different. To not RSVP is very inconsiderate to the hostess and there is no reason to be rude to someone who is trying to include you in a special event for someone who somehow finds you relevant.

RSVP rant!!!!!!!! People are a$$holes

Everyone is busy. If you have enough time to get your mail from the mailbox, you have enough time to call/text/email the host. This is also why I like to keep parties small and only invite people I know will want to come enough that they will RSVP.

If you're wasting time on LIF then you can totally spend fifteen seconds to RSVP for a party.

At this stage I would send a reminder email and ask everyone to please RSVP today. I know its frustrating and rude but maybe some people genuinely forgot.

I do take that into consideration.

I have to say, honestly, at this point.....I don't care. I mean, I CARE......I just can't be bothered with tracking people down to come if THEY could not be bothered to RSVP.

I have to pay for 30 if less than 30 show up.

The mom and dad will have lots of doggy bags to take home.

I guess if you don't want to be bothered then leave it alone and put it down as no. I am hosting an event next week and my mother asked me to invite these family friends that haven't RSVP'd. I am just putting them down as no. They obviously don't see my event as important lol.

RSVP rant!!!!!!!! People are a$$holes

I can't stand no responses. So RUDE! There is no excuse at all. My daughter's bday party just passed. We invited about 20 kids, 4 responded. I emailed and texted the rest, 5 still did not respond. One responded yes and then didn't show. One of the no's showed up anyway. I do not understand how people have no manners. It is really sad. We are now doing a party for my parent's 50th anniversary and we are still missing about 15 responses. They have a week to respond and I refuse to reach out to them. If they do not respond they are a no and I will have no problem telling them so if they decide to show up the day of (I would never turn a kid away from a kid party but adults should know better).

Re: RSVP rant!!!!!!!! People are a$$holes

Step 1. Receive an invite
Step 2. Look at calendar
Step 3. decide if you can go or not
Step 4. send a text, respond to invite or email someone.

1-2 minutes tops. You are not that busy

RSVP rant!!!!!!!! People are a$$holes

I was pretty terrible about sending RSVPs in my early 20s, and I now feel pretty bad about that. I would consider it a "good enough" RSVP if I had a family member tell another family member (who may not have even been the inviter) that I was or was not coming. Now a wedding and kid later I know from experience that if you want to keep your relationships strong, you really need to reach out to people directly in these situations.

That is how I see it. If they have not RSVP then they are an automatic no.

Im not chasing them down.
