Do both parents go trick or treating with the kids?
We always leave a bowl out and have both been going with the boys trick or treating. We live on a private street and don't get many trick or treaters. The bowl is always half full by the time we get back.
Do both parents go trick or treating or does one parent stay back to hand out candy?
Will you go a little earlier this year since Halloween falls on a Saturday?

I run straight from work, and take them around 6 if I can't get out earlier. - I take them w/ their cousins.
DH will join us when he can - My one cousin usually does a halloween party on the weekend, so it's not like they are deprived.
this year, we'll probably head out after sports.

We both do. We try to get the trick or treaters before and after at our house.

We always go out as a family and trick or treat.
ETA - We're going to do a few rounds of trick or treating this year since it's on a Saturday. Different neighborhoods.

We all go together and leave a bowl out front. Haven't thought much about the time yet but I am thinking an early dinner, around 5, and then going right after.

One of us stays home and one of us goes trick or treating with DS. We have so many kids come to the door a bowl would be empty in minutes.

This is the first year DS will be going trick or treating and since hell only be 18 months, we'll just take him to a few houses. We don't get a ton of trick or treaters anyway.
In my town, there are strict rules about trick or treating. If you are participating, you turn on your front light. Houses that don't have on a light, you know to skip. They also only allow trick or treating from 5-8 pm.

Re: Do both parents go trick or treating with the kids?
Growing up my dad took us out till we went by ourselves, and my mom stayed home to pass out candy. Where I live now, everyone in town goes to this one road (they go all out on decorations and are live for this one week.) Since we don't get many trick or treaters, we leave out a bowl and both parents take DS to that street.

We're never home on Halloween and where I live, its poitless to leave candy out. One group would just steal the whole bowl. LOL
This is our first halloween with the babies so we are both taking them trick or treating with my niece and nephews.

We both go with DD. We'll give trick or treaters candy when we come home. Being our neighborhood has a TON of kids, if I left a candy bowl out, it would be gone in 2 seconds.

Do both parents go trick or treating with the kids?
Last year was our first real year of trick or treating - I left a huge pumpkin out - and everything was gone and the pumpkin was relocated... We spent most of our time at a friend's house.
Not quite sure how we will handle it this year.

We both always go. When DH has to work he will take a half day and we will take them to the outlets and then we go TOT with their cousins after that.

Re: Do both parents go trick or treating with the kids?
We both go with DS. In the past we've left a bowl out, but last year a caught a group of older kids dumping the entire bowl into their pillowcases, so we wont be doing that again. Unfortunately, some bad kids ruin it for everyone else

Re: Do both parents go trick or treating with the kids?
One of us will go out with the kids for a little while and the other stays back handing out candy. Then, we switch. My parents will probably visit this year so we'll likely all go out together. We also tend to participate in other ToTing events where the kids go around to participating stores so we don't miss out on anything.

Go together. This year we will leave a bowl out since it's a Sat. Dh and I love halloween and even last year at 1 years old dd caught the bug and was running up to Doors by the end of the night. Can't wait for this year.

Re: Do both parents go trick or treating with the kids?
I would say DH and I will likely both go with DD this year. We will not leave a bowl out. I was totally the adolescent who took all the candy from the bowl growing up so I won't make the same mistake.
If people come while we are Trick-Or-Treating, they will just ring the doorbell and have to move on. We live in a private community with mostly empty nesters. There are some young families with children but maybe 10 total. No one will miss us. All the residents look forward to the doorbell ringing which on a good year might happen 5 times

Re: Do both parents go trick or treating with the kids?
We always go as a family. We leave a bowl out and it's usually untouched by the time we get back. But since this year it's on a Saturday we'll be out all day I'm sure (as soon as sports are over)
