Getting over fear of balloons...please help
My 4.5 year old ds is petrified of balloons.he doesn't like loud noises and is afraid of them popping.
It's getting so bad! Yesterday we were at a christening and they were making baloon animals and he freaked out! Did want to be outside or anywhere near them. It was awful and consumed him the whole party.
Any ideas on how to get him over this? Thank you!!

yikes, I just want to wish you luck, sadly no advice. This is coming from someone who was terrified of balloons as a kid. Needless to say, birthday parties were always a risky situation and I don't even remember what age the fear started to pass. As an adult I still won't blow up a balloon or really handle them at all, so sometimes these fears hang on for longer than we'd like.

Re: Getting over fear of balloons...please help
yup takes time, my daughter was afraid of the ice cream truck last summer it was a nightmare. To make sure we had a normal summer this year we played the ice cream truck on youtube all winter. At first she freaked out but we started in intervals like 5 seconds, 10 seconds etc and after she finished we gave her a sticker or a treat and told her how happy we were. She would get excited and before you know it she was over it. Now we barely actually see or hear the ice cream truck (go figure!) but when we do shes like mom dad ice cream truck and gets excited. Just give it time its just another phase.
