I haven't kept up with this thread mostly bc I don't go to nail salons. I have what I consider to be a"well behaved" 3yo. However she is a very chatty kid and wants to talk to everyone. I'm sure if I took her to get our nails done she would talk the whole time whether it be to me or the girl doing her nails. Aside from making sure she's not too loud, would that make me a bad parent bc I'm not making her sit quietly? I don't think it would be any different than if I brought my chatty mom with me. I wouldn't let her run around touching everything but I wouldn't think anything of her talking as long as she wasn't too loud.

no, it wouldn't make you a bad parent. But as adorable and cute as you think your daughter is, the person sitting there with their eyes closed trying to get 15 min of relaxation in, might not want to be bothered by having to talk to her. Yes, same as if you brought your chatty mom except for one thing - your chatty mom might get the meaning behind a cold stare or someone only responding in a one word answer (meaning they're not up for talking) whereas your 3 yo might not.

Me personally, I would not bring my kid to a nail salon because i know he's be bored and want to move around - thereby potentially disrupting other patrons or the staff. If i'm sitting somewhere 'trapped' either with my feet or hands being worked on, then i can't properly watch him as he decides its fun to jump on a chair, or run around in circles because he's bored of waiting for me. I just don't think a nail salon is a place that kids belong in unless they're sitting there getting a mani/pedi themselves or confined to a stroller and asleep.
but that's just my opinion.. and as we've seen from this thread, there are a lot of those Chat Icon

I certainly wouldn't expect everyone there to want to talk to her. I meant if she were talking to me or to the employee doing her nails it wouldn't occur to me that others wouldn't find her well behaved. They may not be interested in what she had to say but who hasn't had to listen to others' conversation at the salon. You don't want to hear it, tune it out. We could have the same debate about whether or not it's ride to go to the nail salon worth your girlfriends and chat the whole time. Some will think it's ride and other people will think it's nuts to find it rude.

Like you said lots of differing opinions. Just wanted to clarify that I wouldn't expect every customer to be subject to holding a conversation with my kid.

Your dd might be the cutest thing and the most well behaved so don't think I am coming at you, as I am not. Many parents think because they think their kids are cute and not annoying to them, they are cute and not annoying to others. Again, this is in general and not you because I could never make that judgement without actually knowing you and your child. This is just from observation of life.

Your opinion

Omg it's still going!!! Lmfao!
I can't even address some of the mom shaming anymore. Pathetic!

Side note- I was at the beach today and my DS started whining (nothing crazy at all but whining) I started to look around and said I hope some of these LIF moms from the nail thread aren't here!!

Re: Your opinion

I'm taking my 9 y/o DS tomorrow with me for mani and pedi. I have no one to take care of him and we are leaving on vacation, so I really need to go. I hope I won't upset anyone… At the end of the day, I have found adults behaving worse than my DS… or kids behaving so badly at mini golf, because their grown ups don't pay attention to them.

The posts about mani/pedis being a necessity and some people "have no choice" but to bring their kids. I get not wanting to go right when your DH gets home from work but what about the weekend? Bottom line, they don't really need to be there.

eta- Meant to say the posts are cracking me up!

Not everyone has the luxury to have a parent or someone watch their child.. we have no idea what the other person's situation is. It's a nail salon.. not some high end spa where people walk around in robes. A child is a part of society.. and no, we should not keep them locked up in homes so others can have their special moment while getting a $10 mani.

LOL..Chat Icon Chat Icon I kept an eye on this thread, and I just couldn't believe how much as a society we give obnoxious adults the benefit of the doubt versus children. Most of us here are moms and aunts.. why is it that we can't find it in our hearts to be a little bit kinder and bit more understanding in such situations. Chat Icon

Re: Your opinion

I'm still confused what anyone is arguing about

Aren't we all in agreement a kid can go anywhere and if a
Kid is screaming and running
And drinking nail polish the parent should prob take them outside

Depends on the Nail Salon, the one i got to in Garden city is very large. There is a separate Spa pedicure room and there is no talking/or cell phones allowed.

In the main pedicure/manicure area there are signs posting for children to behave

There is also a new manager and a new rule that employees are not allowed to talk to each other while working which makes it extremely quiet, i never see children there, but its a little more pricey than a regular nail salon

This thread is making me smh... honestly. If a child is well behaved, who cares? If the child isn't then the parent should remove them. End of story. Nothing really to debate!
The pic of the kid in the foot bath is hilarious.
I'm just posting to find out where this nail salon is? Sounds awesome!

It is excellent!

Thanks will check it out, without my DS. LOL

I bring my son who is 3... He sits quietly with a lollipop and sometimes my phone and hardly says anything. To be honest, I don't care if I'm annoying anyone. People annoy me and they are adults! A nail salon is NOTHING like a spa and I'm sorry if you come to the nail salon for peace lol... I'm reading people's comments about getting a sitter lol why don't you go to the Red Door Spa to get a quiet manicure. Half the time the TV is on and the workers are talking. The phone is ringing etc.... This post makes me laugh!
