Cablevision & change the name on the account
Does changing the name of the primary accountholder make it cheaper? Ours increased 6 months ago (under Dad's name) and still we still live at the house.. wondering if I can call and switch everything to my name.

I'm pretty sure you have to close the existing account and open a new one in your name to get the discount again. Just a name change didn't change the price of mine.

we have not done this in years, but yes we would give them back the boxes and get them in the new person's account.
we did it because it was cheaper and cablevision was only a few blocks away.

yes. You would have to cancel the current account and return the boxes. Then start a new account with new name. You can try and time it with install being the same day or next day of cancellation so you aren't without service. But there isn't a guarantee.
Plus, I just called as a "New customer" to get pricing. It winds up being $18 less then what I pay now per month. It's not worth the hassle for $18 for me, so I'm just leaving it.
