I think I might seriously lose it. The weekend is looking like you-know-what, weekdays are gorgeous, and I have ONE day left of paid time off after the whole giving birth thing and my grandma passing away. I am about to lose my cool because I cannot even begin to think about another summer of gorgeous weekdays and horrendous weekends. I cannot imagine not having some time with my little man. I cannot imagine not going to the beach ONCE this summer (which I didn't do at all last year). I cannot imagine this summer flying by without actually getting to enjoy it. I'm sitting here at my desk about to lose my composure and burst into tears....
I'm probably just PMSing but I just really can't take it today.
I need

take a few days!!! you need to. I know the feeling but I have no days, so take them for me!!!

Neither do I, LOL, that's the problem, hahaha. I'm going to have to take some days unpaid.

So true. I need a sunny and HOT day to really enjoy the beach.
The year before, we were in our pool all the time, last summer, used it maybe once, lol. I stare at it when I get up in the morning and it's just calling to me, and then the weekend comes and it's crap, lol.
I need some chocolate...
Same here! We used the pool maybe 3 times because of how mild summer was. I'm hoping this summer will be different.

I don't mind summer here, I just need to be able to enjoy it. I have ONE day left, and that has to last me through till SEPTEMBER??? All because they couldn't give me the courtesy of bereavement days, which everywhere else I've EVER worked has provided.
I'm going to discuss with DH tonight, I really think I need to take 1 day off every other week, so I'd lose 1 day in my paycheck biweekly. It wouldn't be terrible. If I had someone else who could pick up DS on Thursdays, I would work late on Thursdays and then I would just make up the hours, but I don't have anyone who can pick him up.
I started doing something similar back in November. We crunched some numbers and by me not working on Fridays and as a result not having to pay daycare for a full week, I only lost something like $30 a week. It's been so great! I get to spend time with DD and I have a 3 day weekend every week.
I contemplated going back to work on Fridays but financially it doesn't make sense, especially once I have 2 kids in daycare.

YES! Switching my hours to work from 8a to 5p instead of 9-6! That should make a huge difference!

I feel your pain with the brief summers we get. I would look into talking to your employer about working a more flexible sched, or finding another job that would accommodate flexibility if your employer is against it. Is that at all possible?
