Getting rid of paint
I have about five gallons of paint that I need to get rid of. Does anybody know where I can dispose of it? Thanks!

Re: Getting rid of paint
I know Brookhaven takes them. I've dropped them off before.
So I would start by calling the town.

Not sure where you live, but the town of Hempstead has STOP events (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants).
Here is a link with more info and a schedule towards the bottom.

Re: Getting rid of paint
Check with your town. Where I live, for latex paint, you have to dry the paint out (if there is just a little leave it out in the sun, if there is more, there is an additive you can buy at home depot) and then you put it in the regular trash. I think it is the same for my parents who are in Town of Oyster Bay.

Re: Getting rid of paint
If it is in good shape - you might try posting on freecycle or a "free" site in your area. Sometimes, people are just looking for a bit of paint for projects...
