I'm getting d!cked by my paint contractor
My painter was supposed to start my two day job last week. He called the day of the job and said his father died, etc. Of course I would understand why he couldn't do the work that week (funeral, etc.) but I had a BAD feeling I was getting played (he demanded a 1/2 deposit - I have receipt). Fast forward. He was supposed to start again tomorrow. Now his mother needs chemo and he doesn't know if he can do it this week....***!?! I have a feeling I'm going to have to make an appearance in small claims court to get my money back and I STILL have no paint!!!

I am now calling SCPD to file charges against this man...based on another poster, he tried to scam her the same way a few weeks back.

oh no! I hope you can get your money back. I am always suspicious of contractors that ask for any $$ upfront. All the work we've had done - painting, bathroom remodel, etc., we paid in installments or in full after the work was started, and/or finished.

I can't believe I got my money back. Thanks to a poster on here (Nancy ) he was a little more than scared/freaked out that his cover was blown and came back with my money. Lesson learned...NEVER pay upfront. I can't believe I was so foolish
