Cold formula?
The post about RTF formula/how you heat it and some of the responses has me thinking -- is there any danger to giving an infant formula (either RTF or pre-mixed powdered) straight from the fridge? DD is almost 1 month (not sure if that matters). Can their systems handle the cold liquid? This would make life so much easier!

not that I can think of, just that they might refuse it. At daycare they warm their bottles before feeding from the fridge, but at home DS gets room temp bottles (if he gets a bottle).

I made the mistake of warming my DD bottles and it became such a headache because she refused them any other way. With my son I used room temp water and never warmed the bottles and it was just so much easier, especially when we were out of the house.

Cold formula?
I don't think it's dangerous but I don't see it being good for the stomach, especially in an infant. Flame away - but I think it's pretty lazy to not at least heat a bottle enough that it is room temperature if not warm for a baby. I understand when you are out it's not as easy but planning ahead or finding tap water to run a bottle under for a few seconds is not impossible.
ETA: Once in a blue moon giving a baby a cold bottle is no biggie if you are really in a pinch (like stuck in the car and no place to warm a bottle when a baby needs it now). But b/c warming a bottle is annoying or extra work is just weird to me.

I've actually put the bottle in my BRA between my boobs to warm it up from refrigerator cold when I was somewhere that I couldn't get hot water.

There are no health benefits to warming the bottle and there are also no health issues if you give an infant a cold bottle. Warm or cold, it's just a preference thing and every baby will prefer it one way or the other. With regards to their health, it doesn't matter how they drink it.

DS has had cold bottles from the beginning. Not every bottle, but I wanted him to get used to it for when we were out and couldn't warm it up.

I disagree with it being lazy. We would warm to just take the chill out but we didn't want DD to reject a cold bottle if we needed to give her one so from day one, she did not have warm bottles. Not once did she ever reject a bottle, warm, room temp, or cold. She transitioned to cold whole milk with ease. We'll do the same with #2.

It's fine. I mostly gave my DS warm or room bottles, but when he was around 1-2 months old and would scream for more food we would give him some cold milk instead of him waiting for us to warm it up. My DS is 11months now and prefers warm or room bottles but will drink cold too if that's what's available.

I would think it does not matter. I rarely heated BM bottles for my DS. I know daycare NEVER heated his bottles as I never said they needed to. So DS was not picky....warm BM or cold BM.

I guess I'm lazy. DD is 7 weeks and drinks cold formula, with no issues. When she's hungry she screams, I feel terrible making her wait to eat. With DD1 I heated every single bottle and she got so used to it that I was warming her milk up until she was 3. To each her own. But I wouldn't go as far to say someone's lazy for not warming a bottle.

i was a lazy parent as well! always gave cold formula, never had an issue.
It also made the transition to regular milk easier (no way was i warming that up- the smell alone makes me gag), plus i did not have to heat up any new foods i introduced - like yogurt (yes , i know someone who heated up yogurt for their kid  )

I have never warmed up my sons bottle (I guess I am lazy). My son is a perfectly healthy, happy, well adjusted kid who will drink his milk cold, warm or however it is! I wouldn't change a thing

Lazy parent here!
DH and I laughed and called it tough love lol
We stopped warming DS bottles at 6 weeks old. We used RTF and I would just take the bottle out maybe 10 minutes before he ate just to take the chill out
He never refused his bottles and switched cold turkey to milk like a champ!
I will do the same with DD on the way!
