NYT article: Mom: the designated worrier

article

Great article and so true too. As much as DH does help, it's still ultimately my responsibility to "oversee" everything. The remembering of dr appts, school stuff, our own stuff, even the birthday parties, presents, even remembering all the family birthdays, sending flowers/cards for Mother's Day as an example... All these little tasks and chores are never ending. I realized all these things are what cause me stress, not the actual parenting part. I feel like there's a perpetual mental list in my brain of what needs to be done, where we have to go, what we have to buy, etc. I really don't think men feel one ounce of this!!!

Re: NYT article: Mom: the designated worrier

Dh always gets annoyed with me when we are going away for stressing out. I tell him...that is because you only have to pack YOUR clothes. I have to pack my clothes, DD's clothes, her toys and games for the car ride or plane, snacks for her, toiletries for all 3 of us, sunscreen for all 3 of us, confirm the hotel reservations, print the boarding passes, check the TSA website to make sure playdoh can be carried on the plane and not mistaken for an explosive Chat Icon, all this while you throw a few pairs of underwear in a bag the morning of our flight!
Then when we get there and you have a headache or need bug spray, advil and deep woods off just magically appear.. Why? Because I packed it!
That is why I stress out! Chat Icon

So true! Even daily stuff around here. Dd was flipping out yesterday and dh kept asking me what snacks I had for her. Or teething meds (bc that's why she was upset..she was in pain). And I magical,y have it....like I do for everything.

So true! I handle all of our stuff-even DH's! Before he makes a dr appt he calls me to check what we have going on and I have to write it down and keep record of it (dentist, too, etc.). I tell him all the time I have to worry about 5 people (my 3 kids, him, and myself)!!! And he has no cares in the worldChat Icon

This is why I am constantly trying to remember things at night- getting backpacks ready for next day, clothes ready for school, the list goes on and on and he's like why don't you come to bed? What are you doing??? I swear men have no clueChat Icon

Glad I am not alone, we women do it all. I often would wonder what I would find if I just left for 2 weeks and didn't come back
