My dd is,almost 8 mths. We have been putting rice cereal in her bottle for almost 3 mths. I was wondering if we could put oatmeal In her bottle?

Would she not eat the oatmeal w/ a spoon? I'm not sure it would go through the bottle, it's kind of thick and chunky.

Re: oatmeal in bottle
At that age she can just eat it as cereal. I wouldn't put it in the bottle.

DD will be 8 months in a little over a week. She eats cereal twice a day with her fruits or veggies. She gets about 2 tbsps with her breakfast and her lunch. She has been on oatmeal, whole grain and brown rice all with no problem.
I'd move past putting in the bottle and start moving on to getting her to eat solids.

I agree. DS is almost 8 months and has multi-grain cereal every morning with fruit. If you DD doesn't like the taste of the cereal/oatmeal by itself mix it with fruit.

Is there a reason why you're putting cereal in the bottle? Like reflux? At 8 months she is more than ready to eat from a bowl and spoon. And cereal isn't even necessary.

We put oatmeal in the bottle, instead of rice cereal. But DS was younger. By 8 months he was eating foods.

Re: oatmeal in bottle
Dont put in bottle. Try to spoon feed. Make it very watery at first and work your way up to a more thick consistency. If at first your baby doesnt take it just keep trying.

To address your question: my ped said that it was totally fine to switch from rice to oatmeal... He even said it would make my son more "regular". I asked if I should gradually switch and he said no, do it right away and fully, no problem. We did and he was fine. GL.

If it's needed for reflux then it's fine. My dd had oatmeal in her bottle for many many months.
