infant with a stomach virus
DS is 8 months old and since yesterday he has been a pooping machine! He went 7 times yesterday (and i am talking explosive - coming out of his diaper), he went once in the middle of the night and 3 times already this morning (it is only 10:30am)
He screams when he poops, but i think its bc he has an awful diaper rash from it. Aside from all the poop, he seems fine.
is it possible its a stomach bug? anything we can do for him? we are trying to give him binding foods (bananas, rice etc) but its not helping. I dont think its necessary to call the ped, but should we? he is still eating, but not as much. He only took 6 of his 8oz bottle last night.
DD is almost 2 and complained about a tummy ache last week but seems better now.
anything we can do?

When my 12 month caught a stomach bug, I made her homemade Pedialyte (recipes on internet) the pediatrician said Pedialyte and plenty of fluids (water) you should call your pediatrician and ask how much Pedialyte to give (I believe its based on baby's weight, I don't remember the amount our pediatrician said to give).

When my DD had this my ped said to switch to soy formula for 7 days (milk is bad for tummy troubles) and try and give an ounce of pedialyte once in awhile. His version of too much diarreah was 7 or more wet poops for the day.

When my dd had it around that age all dr said we could do was feed BRAT diet. Reduce milk as much as possible try not to give at all. Drink water and also give pedialyte to avoid dehydration. And thats it. Binding bland food. Avoid dairy. My dd had it for a week.

That young get the plain flavor pedialtye...
If their is a diaper rash triple paste works alot faster go relief.

We had it here at 4 months. PED said to split bottles (3 oz then wait 30 min and give next 3 oz) and pedialyte.
