Pacifiers & CIO questions

I have two questions - somewhat related
1- if you lo uses a pacifier to sleep, at what age were they able to find it on their own at night?
2- did anyone successfully do CIO with a baby that takes a pacifier? We did CIO successfully with dd but she was a thumb sucker. Sat night I was able to give Ds his pacifier and CIO worked but last night was a nightmare with the pacifier. Just wondering if anyone has tips for CIO with a pacifier?

My DS never had a problem sleeping through the night with a paci. But the problem was I had to keep getting up to give it to him. He couldnt find it on his own. So at 6 months i thought I would just break 2 bad habits at once and take away the paci and CIO. After 3 days he didnt need paci or help sleeping. Best thing (and hardest) I ever did. He found other methods to self soothe.
