Outdoor festival with an infant

Would you take your infant (1-3 months old) to an crowded outdoor festival? Like Oysterfest.

I would--its outdoors in the fresh air. I'd just wear them, or keep them covered with a muslin blanket in their stroller.

Yes! We took DD to the Oyster Festival when she was 6 weeks old.

I don't think I would under 8 weeks. They have to get a spinal tap if they get a fever under that age so it's just not worth the risk to me, however small it may be. We're also into flu season. I always had idiots coming up trying to touch my kids when they were babies.

Yes. At 1 month old, I would keep them covered with a blanket so no one would get any ideas about touching them. But at 3 months old, I wouldn't even bother with that.

Outdoor festival with an infant

I'm debating whether or not to go. DS is three months old, 1 month adjusted bc he was a preemie.
I hAve the car seat canopy covering him when I go out.
I guess I'm just nervous bc it's such a busy festival and it's cold season.
Tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous out and my 5 year old is begging to go.

Yep. I would. They are protected in the infant carrier/stroller anyway. Go enjoy the day! Chat Icon Chat Icon

After one month I took my son everywhere. I took him to the islanders home opener on Saturday. He's 8 months and he loved it.

I would and I did. When my son was 1 month old i took him to the huntington festival with my twins. I just wore him in a carrier and made sure he was warm.

I just saw this after my last response. Being that he is a preemie I am not sure I would go considering he is only 1 month adjusted. I had preemies and although they were born in the winter it was drilled into me from the hospital staff they could land themselves right back in the hospital if they get sick. They did not leave the house until after cold and flu season. If you can get a sitter I would do that. if not and you really want to go I would make sure everyone stays far away from him. That's JMO.
