Skip nothing, LOL! Seriously it's an amazing place. I love Bangkok but it's not a city for everyone. Crowded hot as a mo-fo and polluted but SO much character. The beaches are beautiful. I don't like Phuket personally. Look into Krabi (especially if you love snorkeling/diving) and Khao Lak.

I've been to Jakarta, Bali, Bangkok and Phuket. I would skip Jakarta. I thought Bali and Phuket were both spectacular. Bangkok was also fun. The spas in Thailand are AMAZING.

Thank you! Looking at places to ring in the new yr. I want to go to Thailand but possibly split up the time with another country. Nothing like last minute lol

I have been to Thailand twice. The first time, I did just Bangkok.
The second was a big Asia trip with my BFF before I got marred. We did Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bali on top of doing Bangkok and Phuket. It is very easy to fly around SE Asia. It sounds like a lot but it was 1-2 hour flights to each destination. It is probably equivalent of going around NE US and checking out DC, NY and Boston on the same trip.
SE Asia is very exotic. Some of my best pictures are from that trip. I am so glad I was able to do that big trip with my BFF because there is no way I could do a trip like that again now that I have kids.
