Diaper rash

My 14 month old has a horrible diaper rash. It started Saturday, we saw the pediatrician yesterday and he prescribed Nystatin. She used it once yesterday and twice already today. When should I expect to see some improvement? It actually seems worse today than yesterday!!

You should see improvement very shortly after. For us most important thing was no wipes, only water with cotton balls. Let it air dry..keep a book or a mag and fan their tush so it is completely dry before putting the cream on. Fungal rashes feed off of moisture and will only make it worse.

Diaper rash

You should see some.improvement after a full day. Like OP said make sure she is completely dry before applying cream. Are you using it at every change? I used triple paste (only thing that worked) & i changed often also. Let her run outside on deck with pair of undies from my older daughter to air her out a lil. Hope she feels better soon.

No wipes. Wet paper towel. We slathered on that cream with butt paste at every diaper change. Do not wipe pee only poop. Limit soap in bath. Dd it took 2-3 days to go away.

After my dd kept getting diaper rashes and I kept getting rx those creams from the ped, yeast and bacterial, I finally switched to water wipes which I get off amazon and she hasn't had a rash since, over 6+ months.

This. DS has had bad diaper rashes that took weeks to go away. But if you don't see improvement, it could be a yeast infection and then you'd need to use a different cream.

my dd's were very prone to yeast rashes. Best thing was using triple paste and BABY POWDER. I know people dont like to use it that much anymore but it really helps with these rashes bc it keeps them drier- these rashes feed off the mositure.

DD just had a yeast diaper rash so bad, we actually potty trained her to get rid of it. I let her run around diaper-less to air out the rash, and she did great with it, so we put on undies and that was that.

Anyway… even though she wasn't even wearing diapers anymore, AND we were using Nystatin 3 times a day, the rash is still there. It was about 5 days before we saw improvement and it's been 9 days since then and she's still a little red and bumpy. Poor thing. Depending on how bad the infection was, it can take over a week to go away, especially if they're in diapers 24/7.

Just make sure you use a non talc power. Talc is toxic to breathe in.

This always worked for us too! Put some oatmeal in a sock and put the sock in the tub and then squeeze it, that way the oatmeal is contained and doesnt go down the drain. Also keep the diaper off for as long as possible. I used to have DD lay on me on a towel after the bath to let her completely dry out.
