not sure what to think-re ovulation
today is day 18, I have a long cycle, that I remember from last time I was TTC. I started testing early just in case and have yet to get my smiley face. Now all of a sudden at work, looks like I got my period. Is it possible to get my period and not have ovulated...

It is possible, but, on the flip side, it could be anything if it's just spotting. I had a cycle (actually the one before I got pregnant) where around ovulation I had some spotting and cramping - not sure what it was, could have been a ruptured cyst.

It's possible you missed your O and could be implantation?

Probably just a weird cycle or possibly a cyst then. I have heard of women who spot during Ovulation.... but I've never experienced it.

Re: not sure what to think-re ovulation
This is my understanding but I am not entirely certain:
You can have a period without ovulating. The cycle itself is called an anovulatory cycle. It ends with a period that will bring your levels down to baseline. The period you get isn't referred to as menstruation. It's called something else. I just remember my RE going over this with me.

This. I never ovulated until I started seeing an RE. I would get my period, but cycles were real long, and were anovulatory.

Re: not sure what to think-re ovulation
ok, so it is officially my full period. I think I missed my ovulation. I was only testing in the AM and I that worked for me last time, but it seems I am supposed to be testing in the afternoon too so i don't miss the surge... time to start again.
Thanks everyone!
