question re decaf coffee

Hi Ladies, regular poster in hiding right here....

I switched to decaf a few weeks ago anyway to help with the TTC, but I still want my morning warm drink fix, which is typically a starbucks decaf misto w/ vanilla syrup... I'm curious how many have or would still have their coffee with the syrup? Is this a no no? I haven't heard or read anything about it yet and of course I went to go see my doc today for a beta & prog and she ran out as I walked in (she was on call).

Thanks!!!!

i think you are totally fine to continue as is
and they do say you can have a cup of caffeinated coffee daily so no need to switch if you dont want to

Am I missing something? Why would vanilla syrup be an issue? Is only chocolate syrup allowed?Chat Icon Chat Icon

Go ahead and drink your drink. Enjoy!

Is your question about just the syrup?

I would be fine with the syrup as long as it's not sugar-free and I'd keep drinking a regular, not a decaf but that's just me.

I'm on my 4th baby and I still drink my regular coffee every morning. My RE and ob/gyn both approved this.

question re decaf coffee

I've got history of mc's so I don't want to risk the caffeine, but thanks about the syrup, yeah, that was another switch I made at the same time as the decaf, regular vanilla syrup not the sugar-free, and switched to whole milk, not fat-free.

There's a lot of research that shows that drinking fat free or reduced fat dairy actually increases infertility.... a lot of studies actually.

sorry i thought you switched bc you were pregnant. My dr told me i can continue with skim milk while pregnant which is where my response came from - sorry for the confusion

I gave up caffeine after 2 miscarriages also.. I did start drinking it again then around 14 weeks into my pregnancy.

If you look into all these studies though, you'll go insane!! I know how hard it is dealing with a miscarriage, so I understand. I'd just worry about cutting out caffeine and artificial sweeteners for now.

Re: question re decaf coffee

Whole milk is less processed than reduced fat or skim. I'm no expert but about a year ago i was having some "girl problems" and it was thought I could be going into early menopause or perimenopause. For unrelated reasons DH and I went organic and minimally processed foods. I was quite surprised at the positive pregnancy test just weeks after my 40th birthday without trying. Not suggesting that the pregnancy would not have happened anyway, but we have been overall healthier since making the switch away from low fat/reduced fat and minimally processed food.

My high risk doctor and ob both said I can have a cup of coffee a day. I generally don't because I haven't had a taste for hot coffee too much with this pregnancy but for the past week I've been craving ice coffee and have been indulging! I would say to enjoy your coffee and good luck! Chat Icon
