DH that are unreachable
So with 9 weeks to go, I am getting nervous. For a majority of the day, DH is unreachable by cell. Right now, I am having a scheduled C-section and have a planned date, but if something happens before, I have no real way of getting in contact with him until the end of his shift. My mother is on standby, but that's not really how I want this to go! I am just really nervous! I also have another DS too so if anything happens, I need to coordinate that too (and my family live 20-30 mins away!). I know I am stressing over nothing, but this is my newest fear! Anyone have a dh that missed the birth?
ETS: of course this stemmed from a dream I had last night LOL!

Re: DH that are unreachable
I would stress abt this too. With DD my DH used to travel around LI a lot and I was always concerned abt that. Is there anyway to get messages to him. Obviously I don't what type of work he does, but Iwould imagine that if somebody work related needed to get to him they could, so maybe getting the number for somebody that can get to hm -ie a supervisor. You can call that person and they can get your DH. Just my first thought.

Re: DH that are unreachable
I was worried about this with dc #1 and #2 DH works in the city and LIRR. I have been lucky to have gone into labor at at night while he was at home. I worried that he would be stuck on the train and not make it in time. I'm a little worried about that again this time since dc#2 arrive much faster than #1 and if that trend keeps up #3 should go super fast as well.
Does your dh not have cell service where he is? Is there another work # you could call and have someone get in touch with him. Or send him a text and make sure he knows to check his phone often.

DH that are unreachable
I had this fear when I was pregnant with DS. DH worked down at the trade center and had NO service when he was down there. There were a couple scares that I couldn't reach him and it FREAKED me out. We coordinated with people that he worked with and I grabbed their cell phone numbers. At one point we had to call his superindendent to get in touch with him. I ended up going into labor on a Sunday and my fear was for nothing. Can you grab someone else's number that he works with to get in touch with him?
I also considered a beeper. I think those have better service and then he would know when it was time.

Re: DH that are unreachable
Unfortunately, he is a train operator for the subway and doesn't get service and even if he did, isn't allowed to check his phone. He also doesn't work out of a specific station and changes every day, so there wouldn't even be a number for a crew office or anything that I could call.

Re: DH that are unreachable
Once it gets close he can make sure he checks in on breaks and lunches so it won't be more then a few hours he is not in contact?

Re: DH that are unreachable
what about a beeper? Do they even make those anymore? Maybe that would work underground?

Sorry to crash. there has to be a dispatcher number that you can call in an emergency only, then DH would be contacted by radio. My DH is MTA bus, and they have the same rules about no cell phone use.
eta : your DH should talk to the union as well. They have to know how to reach him during shift.

Thanks. My DH is a little bit of a PITA and doesn't want to make "waves" as he is still not off of probation. This job is more of a Pain for me than him! LOL
