10 month old suddenly refusing bottle....
The past few days it's becoming a real struggle to get my son to drink his bottles. He loves table food, but when I give him the bottle he shakes his head and pushes it out and tried to squirm away. I don't think it's teething, he already has 8 teeth. DH thinks he's just distracted by everything he's learning and couldn't be bothered to eat, lol. Iam not sure what it is, is he self weaning perhaps, but it's still too early to drop a bottle or go to milk. He gets 3 8 ounce bottles and 3 meals a day. Anyone have any suggestions? Iam worried about him not getting enough calories/ nutrition....He is average weight but very tall so he looks thin.....TIA

I would say maybe giving to much table food? Make him drink the milk first & then feed him.

I dropped to 2 bottles at that time. Dd now has 2 6 oz bottles wakeup and bedtime. She's 11 months. It's probably to much for him. As long as he's eating he's good

I remember DD transitioning down bottles she would take very little one day and more another. On lighter days I make sure she's getting yogurt and cheese to get enough dairy.

Re: 10 month old suddenly refusing bottle....
At 10 months my DS started to really hate bottles. I started transitioning to milk and it was easier to get him to drink. He's 11 months now and except for a small bottle in the morning and a nighttime bottle he really has NO interest in having them anymore. (No formula, all milk)
He drinks water and milk from a sippy as well and eats plenty throughout the day so I'm not sweating it. He's growing and he's healthy, that's all the matters.

I agree with this. And its better that he prefers food... my dd was attached to her bottle and it was so hard breaking her out of it so she would eat more table food... i would say follow his cues... maybe hes good with just am and pm bottle and food throughout day

Re: 10 month old suddenly refusing bottle....
Thanks everyone! I would drop a bottle or transition him to milk but he's got a bit of a dairy or lactose sensitivity so I try and limit his dairy, like cheese and yogurt cause it sometimes gives him diarrhea and gas....so it would be hard for me to give him more calcium....I was going to give him a cows milk alternative when he turns one year, such as almond milk or coconut milk, but I hadn't researched that yet. Does anyone give their babies something other than cows milk? he's on the sensitive formula right now, he just seems to be a little sensitive to dairy like I am, so he can have about one dairy product a day without it bothering him....maybe I should call the ped and get their opinion? Is 2 bottles a day enough for this age? thanks and sorry for my rambling, Iam not feeling too well today!

Yes, I would contact your pediatrician. DD was on gentlease formula and transitioned well to milk. I would talk to your ped about almond, soy or coconut milk and also other ways to get calcium. Also I would watch for protein intake. DD isn't a meat fan and yogurts and cheese and eggs are her primary sources of protein unfortunately.

i'd drop a bottle and start giving him a sippy cup instead.
