1st birthday gift for DD
DD will be one this weekend. I'm looking for suggestions for a birthday gift. DH and I are totally lost. What did you get for your DD's first birthday?
* We want something she can enjoy, not a keepsake.
Thanks!!!!!

Re: 1st birthday gift for DD
My friend got her son that smart-trike. OMG he loves it. And it's cool because he can graduate with it -- it'll take her son through til like 3 years old because it transitions. They have girly options - I think one is a ladybug.

Re: 1st birthday gift for DD
DD was a summer baby so we got her: -a radio flyer 3 in 1 trike (which she just LOVED loved LOVED) -a huge pail/shovel/sand toy set
We were also debating getting her a water table but we didn't.
I'd suggest a radio flyer bike or maybe a little tikes toy. Many people do the little tikes slide or bench set.
If it's a winter birthday and you won't be doing as much outdoor stuff: -cozy coupe (can be used indoors easily and later moved outdoors) -a kitchen set with accessories -a huge block set (lakeshore has wood ones but they also have big soft/fabric ones) -the FP laugh and learn house

We got DS a water table... his bday is in 2 weeks, and he won't use it yet, so I can't tell you if he loves it or not, but I am pretty sure he will!

Re: 1st birthday gift for DD
None of you felt like they were too young for a play kitchen? My aunt and uncle wanted to buy her one, but I thought she was too young. Did your DDs actually play with them at this age? I was thinking of getting one for her 2nd birthday, but it seems to be such a popular choice amongst many of you.

My 10 month old loves the play kitchen!! He does really "play" kitchen but opens things and puts stuff in and out.

2 is a much better age for the play kitchen (and the bike) IMO.
DD1 has it all - the bike and three other ride ons (including a powerwheels), kitchen, anywhere chair, laugh and learn house. We decided for DD2's birthday that we are going to go on vacation instead of getting her another giant toy that we don't need!

I thought the same thing when DD was turning one. I would say 2-3 months later I realized she she would love it. She was constantly "cooking" on our coffee table or the floor. Someone ended up giving us one as a hand me down, otherwise we would have gotten her one for christmas for sure.
For her birthday, we got her a junior workbench which she loves. She got tons of pink ad girly stuff for her birthday so we figured why not.
