Can I do CIO when DS keeps sitting up in the crib

I want to smack myself for not getting DS to sleep well before he learned to sit and stand in the crib (he's 15 months). I don't think he knows how to lay himself back down if he's sitting up. Can I do CIO? Would I just go into his room in intervals and lay him back down, go in and just comfort him or not go in at all? Or is there something else I can do to get him to sttn?

Yes, you can definitely do CIO if he's sitting/standing up. I'm not really sure what you mean when you say you don't think he can lay down himself from a standing position. You can do any of the method you mentioned, choose whatever you are comfortable with and what works for you and your DS.

Good luck!

He probably knows how to lay down but doesn't want to. He will get eventually. At this point I find it easier to not go back in as I used to do when CIO when they were younger. Now I let them cry and they know its bedtime. (They rarely cry though)

I had the same concern when I did CIO (same age too). DD had just learned to pull to stand and sit herself up. We practiced during the day. We made it a game and pretended to go to sleep on the floor. I would take her shoulders and help her get down onto her side. She eventually figured out how to get down to sitting, and then from sitting she would go down to her belly and she would go to sleep that way. I found it easier not to go in at all bc it would just escalate the crying. It was such a sigh of relief when she would lay herself down!

He will lie down when he goes to sleep. When I first did CIO with DD, she would carry on until she would literally "fall" asleep in a heap in the corner of her crib! He'll be fine. Some babies do ok with the intervals, but for my DD it was better if I didn't go in at all after I said goodnight- it just made her more upset. Do what feels right to you, but I definitely wouldn't worry about him lying down- he will. Good luck!

Dd stands and bounces in her crib when she's crying, then when she gets tired enough she sits down and then after a few more minutes flops over and falls asleep.

I tried when DD was already standing in her crib at 8 months. We used the sleep sense program. It isnt exactly CIO

Yea, me too! Don't worry he will get back down. I am doing this now with my 10 month old who hates napping in his crib.
