Standing in crib and CIO
Ds is now 1yo. he had been sttn usually 5 out of 7 nights and for only about 10 hours. he has never been a good sleeper but now, he is waking around 2 am and not wanting to go back down and i have no idea what to do! we never did CIO and now i just keep rocking him and putting him back in the crib and he jumps up and stands in the crib screaming! can you let them cry standing up and for how long? has anyone done this and will he just sit down on his own and go to sleep or should i just keep picking up and laying him down? this literally went on for 2 hours the last 2 nights until i brought him in my room. that is another habit i dont want to start!

Re: Standing in crib and CIO
DS has done this off and on every couple months, and it's always due to teething. I always take him into our bed and he passes right out. It's never started a bad habit--once the tooth comes through, he's back to STTN. Are the molars coming in? Those were the worst for DS (turned 1 year last week but has 14 teeth).

Re: Standing in crib and CIO
Usually when DS stands up we try to let him CIO. He's sometiimes does it for 15-20 mins. Depending on how horrendous the crying is or if it's more like 30 mins+, I might go in and try to put him back down, but more often then not, he'll get tired and drop back down. And usually within a few minutes he's put his head down and is alseep.

Re: Standing in crib and CIO
OMG the same thing is going on here and I was just going to post about it! DS has been STTN since he was 3 months old and he is almost 11 months now - same thing happens..this morning it was at 4am and he didn't want to go back down...I always have to hold him and rock him. And when I try to put him back in the crib his eyes fly open and he stands up and screams!!

Same exact with DS. STTN, but every couple of months he has bad teething and that effects his sleep. I try to give him Advil or something to help then when the teeth come through he's better. Once I had to do CIO after the teeth came in, but been fine since. It's usually only the top teeth that bother him
