Really NickMom?? A vent...mostly.

Last night I was so disgusted with the programming on NickMom. I get the whole idea...after the kids go to bed, us parents need some time to wind down.

About 10:15 last night, my kids were in bed asleep, and I changed the channel to NickJr. I do this so that when my son wakes up in the morning, the channel is set to his shows.

I know at 10:00 p.m. the kids shows turn off and the "mom" shows start. I don't give it much thought. But last night they were showing moms doing burlesque performances, and some woman was saying how it's important for moms to feel like woman and be sexy, blah blah blah. Some of the "performers" had to be blurred out.

I get that kids shouldn't be watching cable tv at 10:00 p.m. But unfortunately, I know several kids who stay up that late watching tv, and it's a KIDS channel. Not all kids roll over and fall asleep at 10:01.

I'm disappointed in Nickelodeon. I'm bothered by the programming choices and the times they choose to air certain shows. You want to show burlesque dancers? Do it at 2:00 a.m. not right after Team Umizoomi. Shame on you Nick.

Yep that would bother me too.
My DD stays up late some nights- I can't control it.
It all depends on if she naps late at school or whatever.
We stick to Disney Jr since it's always kids shows 24/7 but that would piss me off.
And to be honest- after my DD is in bed, the LAST thing I am going to sit and watch to unwind is Nick Mom.
I want to watch my DVR shows, etc.
So dumb IMO

I agree, I do not like that. I know its not the same shows but I like disney jr. Its 24 hours of kids shows.

I don't get the nick mom thing. When my kids are in bed I want to watch mindless crap like my shows. Not comical woes of motherhood. I already live that.

Yep...The other night the lady that's on the show went to a nudist colony. It was like 10:10 p.m. I was surprised.

I prefer Disney Jr, and even Disney over the Nick Channels. We like the Fresh Beat Band and Peppa Pig, but that's about it for Nick Jr.

I agree that there is never a reason for Nick Jr to air shows like that.

So I'm not alone in that fact that I don't find NickMom to be entertaining? I thought it was just me. Like maybe I was just too tired to get this whole "mom tv" thing.

They are failing at "funny" and they are failing at "good content". Maybe it wont last long.

Is this something new? My DD stopped watching Nick Jr for a while now. It's all about Disney Jr in my house and Sprout occasionally.

I think it's been on for about 6 months or so. I can't recall when this new format started. But after 10:00 p.m. it's shows geared toward parents...mom's mostly. They have comedienne's on, play reruns of some TV shows, like the Old Adventures of the New Christine (or something like that), and various topics that they think moms will like....like burlesque dancing and nudist colonies. Ha!

I had no idea that Nick did this at all. Since we record Disney stuff it changes to that all on its own no matter WHAT channel we are on when we go to sleep. Love my DVR.

But yeah my kiddo wasn't in bed at 10pm until Kinder so that would be been an interesting conversation.

Much like the time we left HBO on one night (during one of those free trials things). We were doing dishes and cleaning up. I have no idea what the movie was on BEFORE 11pm but the one at late night was obviously sexual. Jim and I were in the kitchen (you can see our TV from kitchen, living room and dining room) when we hear the moans and groans and it gets faster and faster and mid conversation we both look over and see the full action and think thank GOD AJ is asleep, still we ran to shut it down. Yet another reason we don't buy HBO.

There are so many channels on the tv that cater to grown ups - I wish they would just keep on the kids programming.

It actually started sometime last year. I was living in CA at the time and Nick Jr was on an east coast feed. so this mom programming BS started at 7 pm. It sucked! We didn't have sprout or disney jr so I had to DVR different stuff to play for my twins at 7 everyday. I used to SPRINT to the TV incase something inappropriate was going to be shown. It was really annoying.

Oh my gosh! 7pm is crazy. We would have had to DVR everything at that point. faint:

Yes I agree! I a can't help but think of the times that the kids were sick at night and needed some tv to soothe them or put them back to sleep after a rough evening.

Agreed. I have no desire to watch kids' TV channels once DD is asleep. Well, except for Sofia the 1st. I'll watch that without DD!
