Reasonably priced vacay for large family?
Maybe someone can help me out... Planning a fam vacation but trying to think of places that won't break the bank for my BIL's fam of 5 (youngest kid is 15 so I think they'll be charged as 5 adults anywhere they go). They want kids separate from them so no family suites etc. We are also going on the vacation and have a 2 yr old... So we need a place for both toddlers and teens to have fun. Thinking beach/all inclusives/things nearby to do to keep teens busy.
Any ideas whatsoever? We are trying to coordinate 3 family's needs/wants and it's becoming impossible

What about renting a house somewhere? If you need something driving distance look into jersey shore, Poconos lakes, Connecticut shore, ocean city MD, myrtle beach, virginia beach, Dewey beach. You can also do house rentals all throughout the Carribean.

We explored house rentals, but I'm a little opposed to it... Little too close for a week long vacation lol. But if we were to do that, do you have any info on any in the Caribbean (Mexico too). We're leaning towards going out of the country.

I've heard puerto plata and punt a Cana are reasonable. What about a cruise?

I have never rented a house in the Caribbean before but you can check out cyber rentals.com, vrbo.com and homeaway.com. Something we have discussed wanting to try at some point is renting a house in Puerto Plata. I believe it is called Lifestyle Residence. You can rent a house with a private pool. Someone comes to your house every morning to prepare breakfast and they keep your fridge stocked with drinks. The best part is, it's on the property and you have privileges to an all-inclusive resort. You should look into it, it may be a good fit for you.

I'd go back to DR in a heartbeat, but BIL had a horrible experience and vows to never return so that's out... Cruise rates in August are through the roof unfortunately so that option isn't looking too good... Although we'd all save on airfare if we just left from ny...
It's looking like best bet would be an AI in Mexico... Prices are pretty reasonable... Can you girls recommend any places there? Rather avoid cancun (been there didn't care for it). Maybe playa del Carmen?

Cruise prices should not be through the roof unless you are looking at Bermuda, Europe or Alaska. It is hurricane season so you will get cheapest rates on island, Mexico or cruises. That is often the time to get good deals.

Ugh... I swear my fam is so indecisive! We're supposed to be finally choosing a place today... The winner will prob be an AI in Mexico... Iberostar paraiso lindo.
DR is actually back on the table after convincing my BIL that he prob just had a bad experience. He went to majestic elegance and didn't care for it for some reason... Which sucks bc my pick would've been its sister resort majestic colonial. Also considering melia caribe in DR
Any Mexico/DR suggestions?

We stayed at Majestic Elegance in DR. The rooms were comfortable, pools were great and the resort was well priced. The food was so so but I think most AI are like that. We stayed at Beaches Turks and Caicos and I didn't find the food all that great either and the cost was about triple of Majestic Elegance.
