The ones from Micheals are $2 or $3 each. I would get 2 packs of plain white men's or boys t shirts for them to use.

Can you just use old adult t- shirts? That's what my preschool uses for smocks

Crayloa plastic ones are cheap, go to AC Moore or Michaels.

I don't find most smocks work well. DD's teacher last year had them use tee shirts . Michaels has them sometimes for $1.99-3. Otherwise try a place like 5 below that sells cheaply tees. That is what I use at home too.
