Good & Cheap Fun for OOT guest with kids!
Hey everyone
figured this might be best spot to post this Q.
My SIL is coming from upstate on Tuesday and she is bringing my 2 nephews. One is 7 and the other is 16 --however the 16 year old is slightly autistic and has alot of social skill issues, sweet sweet kid though, and probably has the emotional maturity of about a 10 year old. So "kiddy" things would be good for him too.
She wants to do some stuff while they are here - but I know she is seriously lacking in funds...usually I'd just take them to the beach, but with the weather who the heck knows how it will be! So I was curious if you all can recommend fun stuff I might take them to that won't break the bank.
Stuff like Splish Splash and the Aquarium is nice--but I know she will complain about the ticket prices...she's VERY VERY frugal.

where are you located?
Holtsville ecology center is awesome and as the above poster said - its free
do you have an entertainment book? there are lots of places with buy 1 get 1 free admission to kids places like the LI childrens museum, etc.

White Post Farms is fun, they have coupons on their site and it's not that expensive.
Wednesday is free day at the Bronx Zoo (probably busy, but hey it's free).
Sprinkler Park? You just pay by the carload. There is Venitian Shores, Hoyt Farm, Centereach Pool and one at West Meadow Beach. I'm sure there are more, those are just the ones I'm aware of.
Long Island Children's Museum..it's $10 for adults, I forget how much for kids.
Once Upon a Treetop...$12 for the kids, the adults are free.
Bowling? www.kidsbowlfree.com you could sign them up for a local alley here and they can switch to one upstate when they get home.
Boomer's in Medford is fun too. They have $12 days Tuesday through Thursday.

Chuck E Cheese, the one in Patchogue is super clean. All games are .25 and if you sign up for their mailing list online you get a $10 for 100 tokens coupon a few minutes later.
If you swing by your library, they usually have the local parent guides and many of them have coupons in them.
