Nap hell

I need some help/ nap tips. My dd is 11 months and an awful napper. She easily goes down at night I put her in her sleep sack, read a book, put her in bed awake and she's out. No crying. Nap time is an entirely different story!!! She will not go down. I tried letting her CIO. She just screams for the entire hour. Tried for three days and it was miserable to top it off she wakes up my older daughter during the second nap/scream fest. So CIO doesn't work for us, I tried just letting her fall asleep on me and transferring her which sometimes works, but often times just backfires and she wakes up as soon as I put her down.


Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm desperate and her napping is very very important to me. Not to mention she's a cranky hot mess.

My dd was like this at the start of my summer vacation. She was a little younger (7 mos.). What worked for me is I would read to her first then lay down with her on (not in) my bed and rub her back. She would almost always fall asleep and I would transfer her to the crib. Sometimes she would get up. Eventually I started putting her down in the crib and rubbing her back in there til she driftd off. Then after that she could do it on her own.

Funny,dd also went down for the night on her own without a problem! It was just the naps!

I laid on one of those children's folding bed/chairs on there floor next to my twins. I told them they have to nap...when they fall asleep I left. It eventually got to point they didnt need me there anymore

Is she down to one nap a day and what time? Does she have my lovies or things to play with in her crib? What about a music projector? We use all of the above and dd goes down much better now. She did CIO on and off forever! Ughhh!

I have the same issue with dd - she's 10+ months old
Sadly she's down to one nap a day bc of it
I always attempt to put her down for two - but most of the time she won't take the second nap
It's a pain, I know she's tired and cranky. She can't stay up past 6:30pm some nights bc of it

Do you think you can adjust the time so she is more tired and goes down more easily?

Is she transitioning to one nap, maybe. My girls just started doing this after being on a great 2 nap per day 10 and 2 schedule for a WHOLE 3 months lol. I swear they love to switch it up on us. Yesterday I skipped the am nap and put them down at 1:30 and they slept for about 2 hrs. I think they may have been overtired so I might try for 1 today. (they used to do a 1 hr and a hour forty five nap)

It's possible that she's transitioning to one nap, but hard to tell since she's such an inconsistent napper. I could try maybe just putting her down at 1230 instead of 9 and 1! My only hesitation is if we are jn the car around 9 she usually sleeps, doesn't that mean she still needs it? My older dd didn't switch to one nap until 17 months, but she's always been a good napper. I think I'll try it, nothing to loose at this point.

She has a lovey and a blanket in her crib but doesn't seem attached to either.

DD was around the same age when she went to one nap. I moved it later and later until she was going down at 1 and she eventually started napping longer (usually 3 hours). If we have a long drive in the morning she'll sometimes fall asleep but will still take her regular nap later. If she naps in the car close to nap time then that's all I get out of her. Hence I try to avoid naps in the car at that time since I'd much prefer a 3 hour nap at home to a 20 minute nap in the car!

My dd consolidated at this age to 1 nap in the early afternoon.

DS was like that but we started using his mobile again (at 11 months!) since he loves the music. And we bought him this stuffed puppy dog that's a bit bigger. He loves cuddling with it, so since we started putting that in his crib with him, he goes down for naps much easier.
